Very convenient to the airport and everything I needed during a visit with relatives. I was traveling alone, so I wanted to be careful about where I stayed... some of the reviews I read of other places were..ugh. The room had a small fridge and microwave, hair dryer, iron and ironing board. They do a very reasonable room service breakfast, but I also went down for the breakfast buffet, which was very good. The room was very clean and comfortable, though the sheets seemed to slide around.My back parking lot view featured a neighboring business's pond and ducks. There were some problems with the printer in the business office, but the desk clerk very kindly printed what I needed at the front desk. The pool seemed to be nice enough, but I didn;t care to use it alone, and when there were people there were LOTS of people. In a small pool., It would have been nice to have tea bags offered as well as coffee with the coffee maker (though they gave me some extra ones in the restaurant). Norfolk seems to be very Pepsified- no Diet coke in the vending machines at the hotel or at several restaurants I went to. Thank God for the 24 hour Super K Mart at Military Hwy and Norview Ave, which kept me supplied with all kinds of things. The hotel does have a little sundries store, that has things like frozen breakfast foods. All the staff I encountered were friendly and polite and helpful! I really didn't go much of anywhere, but the hotel was very close to the interstate without being right next to it. All in all, a good experience. All in all, a good experience.

Location was very convenient to the airport, just 5 minutes in a car. Service was average, the room itself was very clean and comfortable. Bathroom/shower was above average. In-hotel dining was below average, the menu is small and service is not great, it was not used by most guests. The fitness facility conisisted of several bikes/treadmills and a set of weights (dumbbells). Pool was clean and of a good size, with a seperate hot tub. Business center printer did not work during my stay, causing somewhat of an inconvenience. I'd stay here again.

My biggest disappointment was in the amount of dust and grime that showed an obvious lack of proper cleaning. The worn condition of the furnishings and linens was quite noticeable. I found the first room I was given to be too dirty to accept when the buttons on the phone were too sticky to push and the pen on the desk was chewed. I notified the front desk manager and requested a new room which I found to be just a little better. This room had maintenance issues in the bathroom. (cracked sink and shower head molding hanging off wall) The staff was friendly and as helpful as they could be. I will not stay here again unless they renovate first and retrain the cleaning staff.

One of the reasons that I picked this hotel was because of the inside pool. Well when I arrived at the hotel, I noticed the sign stating that the pool was closed due to renovations. I was disappointed because I had told my daughter she would have the opportunity to go swimming. Once we got over this mishap it was smooth sailing for the rest of our visit. I needed guest services twice during my stay and they were there within 5 minutes of my request. OMG......the beds are so comfortable!!!!!!! I mean really good quality mattresses. The bathroom was clean, however, the toilet flushes extremely loud. There are various restaurants on N. Military Hwy (Olive Garden, Ruby Tuesday, Applebees, and Bennigans). The Military Circle Mall was also close but beware of lots of young people hanging out. Walmart and Target are also in the area along w/other familiar stores. This location was great because I wanted to be near the Navy base. It was approximately 10 minutes away so that was an added plus. If I am ever in the area again and can not find a cheaper place w/the same quality of service, I will make Holiday Inn my choice.
