As a business traveler I stay over 50+ nights a year in hotels. This past Monday night was the 5th time I've stayed at Tan-Tar-A, and I hope this was the last time. This resort had one of the worst beds I've ever slept in. Hard as a rock is an understatement. Smelly hall outside the room - inside the room was badly outdated decor, very dim lighting, a toilet scrunched between the vanity and tub that an average sized person like me had trouble using. The ceiling above me creaked constantly from the guests staying there walking around. Add to this no elevator in the building I was in ( C ) - so had to lug bags up 2 flights of stairs. Last, but not least, is you have to have the legs of a mountain goat to walk around the property!

09/18/2008The property is a bit dated, but the incredible staff and overall service more than made up for the age of the hotel and facilities. would recommend this location highly.

Although, clean and no ordors, they need to invest in sprucing up the rooms. A fresh coat of paint, new carpet, update the bathroom, etc. It is a bit out-dated. The staff was very friendly and accomodating!!!!!

If you like to golf, this is the place to go. We had access to a shuttle from our "cabin" to anywhere on the property. If you walk anywhere, be prepared for steep hills and lots of steps. There were 2.5 flights down to our cabin, and 3 flights down to the lake. Bring bug repellent. The resort was huge! When we took our car to go someplace, I normally got lost trying to find our cabin. Overall a great place to stay!

Tan-Tar-a Resort is a nice get away but most resort activities will dip into your pocket. There are 3 pools, an exercise facility, spa, watercraft rental, indoor water park, shops, bowling alley and arcade. You can definitely enjoy your vacation without ever leaving the resort but it will cost you. The room itself was exceptionally clean and included high quality sheets, comforter and a mini fridge. This place is worth checking out!
