Stayed here for 8 nights in May 2009 and I have to say I am so happy that I picked the Angler apartments, as other reviewers have said if you want 5 star luxury then there's plenty of that on Barbados for $ a night and up but really you will have a better time here for a quarter of the price! Your host makes you feel like you're staying with your favorite Aunt, the one that's a great cook! The apartments are basic, clean, air conditioned and have full kitchens, cable TV and a small outdoor lanai. Eat at the restaurant to get a taste of mix of Bajan and Indian food all home cooked by her, fresh and to order, seafood is always a good option in Barbados. The private beach across the road is great. You will need a car and you should let them book this for you too as she can get great rates. One other thing to note is that has three wonderful dogs that she adopted from a local shelter, so if you're a dog lover like me this just makes the Angler even better, however if you don't like dogs this may not be a good pick.

On my recent trip to Barbados I stayed at the Angler Apartments. The location is iseal for quick and easy access to the Capital city of Bridgetown and all the beautiful beaches just minutes away. I liked the fact that I had access to my own private beach (after receiving the keys to enter from management). Angler has its own restaurant specializing in mouth watering cuisines including vegetarian, East Indian and Caribbean dishes. Breakfast was a treat as well. The rooms were clean and included all the modern amenities including air-conditioning, running hot water and wireless internet service. I felt totally relaxed and comfortable there. if you're an animal lover there are 3 beautiful and loving doggies (who belong to management) at the hotel. I had a wonderful experience there and I felt that my every need was tended too. Thank you Angler for making my vacation as restful and peaceful as it was.

Me and my business partner supposed to go on conference trip to Bangkok but in November 2008 the country's political situation was confused and we both had 10 days free time. So, fortunately we found ourselves in a recession trip to Barbados. We were lucky chose Angler apartments it was exactly what we wanted because we did not want to stay in a crowded, five-star, overpriced resort full of tourists. Apartments were basic level, a spacious, very clean and functional. The coolest in this apartment was a five-star, nearly private beach and you got 4 new friends the owner with her 3 dogs! She was really very helpful and arranged everything for us what we needed. Because we had enough equipped kitchen available and Food is our hobby we both like to make different, exotic foods when you are abroad. So we did not use The Garden Restaurant much and in addition the island's best restaurants are close and easily reachable. She helped us to rent a car but I do not recommend to anyone to drive the car himself the local (bajan) driving style is left-hand traffic and quite wild. Fortunately there are two kinds of local buses, private and public. If you want to listen great reggae music then choose those yellow private ones! In addition to traffic the island's dangers are the unpleasant water scooters witch you have to avoid when you are snorkeling. Otherwise Barbados feels safe and is very easygoing beautiful island. It is expensive as most of the Caribbean islands but you can save some wise choice of the hotel (like Angler) a lot of money to live on. Probably I will come back to this island and definitely choose her place again. And the local Rum is good and cheap!

We traveled to Barbados and stayed at the Angler for nine nights to celebrate our 30th anniversary. It was a wonderful experience - it was so hard to leave and say good bye to our new friends (C, the owner, and T and S at the Garden Restaurant; F, C and little L). We stayed in a studio apartment, which had everything we needed and was a great bargain. Next time we'll upgrade to a one-bedroom apartment just to have more space - we also plan to bring our family! The key ingredients that made our experience at the Angler so good were: (1) friendliness and helpfulness of Chandra and her staff; (2) facilities that were clean with everything in good working order; (3) peace and quiet - away from the hustle and bustle of the hectic tourist environment of Barbados; (4) convenience - easy access to Holetown, Bridgetown or any other destination on the island as well as to the secluded Caribbean beach across the road; (5) welcoming atmosphere in the Garden Restaurant, where delicious Indian food is served up. We chose not to rent a car but walked, bused or took a cab around the island. The owner made reservations for us as needed and gave us tips on places to visit and eat.

I had been to Barbados before on business and stayed on an expense account. This trip was a vacation with a 10 yr. old daughter and no expense account. Barbados is expensive. The main attraction for us was the beaches, so we didn't need anything fancy. I knew my way around and specifically wanted the West Coast. Angler Apts. are a great fit for us. Don't let any negative reviews you see elsewhere dissuade you, this is a great value. Chandra, the owner, is a native Bajan and very gracious. She will definitely work with you on touring, taxis, car rentals (this one is very important, once you learn what it's like to do it yourself), general stuff. But don't expect a concierge at a 4-star hotel - go to one of those if that's what you want - and pay the $400/night rate. The rooms are basic but completely usable - for Americans, think of an old-fashioned roadside motel run by a Mom and Pop. Try to remember, this is Barbados.
