  When I was searching the Internet for a hotel in the Mahwah/Ramsey, NJ area, I saw Homewood Suites, but was discouraged by some of the reviews for it. I decided to book our stay there anyway because the room configurations (bedroom, living room, kitchenette) fit our needs the best. Well, I have to say I am very happy I did--I had nothing to worry about. We were extremely impressed to find such a wonderful hotel. It was exceptionally clean, the rooms were large and comfortably laid out, and the hotel staff was extremely nice and attentive to our needs. The suite provided plenty of room for everything, including a fridge to keep our restaurant doggie bags (which is a blessing you usually do not get in a hotel room), a microwave to heat the leftovers, dishes and a dishwasher. Another wonderful aspect was the breakfast provided in the lower lobby each morning: hot and cold cereals, do-it-yourself waffles, all types of breads, muffins and to-die-for bagels, french toast, pancakes, sausage, eggs, fresh fruit, yogurt, juices, teas and coffees...all with an extremely attentive staff and friendly guests. We completely enjoyed our stay, and will definitely look for Homewood Suites for our future travels around the country.

  Paid for my room in advance 6 weeks prior to arrival. when i phoned on my way to the airport to the hotel, was told by the front desk clerk ...

  Paid for my room in advance 6 weeks prior to arrival. When I phoned on my way to the airport to the hotel, was told by the front desk clerk that although she sees my reservation, they didn't have my room. After complaining and asking to speak with a manager, the clerk came back on the line and said ""whoever gets here first gets the room"". Fortunately, I got there first, but I've never heard anything so ridiculous. Why pay in advance???
