This hotel has a very friendly staff, clean accommodations and reasonable rates, unfortunately it sits right next to the Fish Market and is on the edge of a ""bad neighborhood"" as described by hotel security. If you are looking for a place to lay your head and grab a shower this place is a good deal. Do not expect a nice romantic seat on your balcony in the evening unless you like the smell of ROTTING FISH if you are located on the right side of the building.! The left side of the hotel offers a view of the port (Cargo ships, oil freighters and huge windmills). The front side of the hotel offers you a view of the ""bad neighborhood"", the freight train tracks and a hill littered with rubbage. The beach in downtown Fortaleza is POLLUTED from the ships in the port. You literally have to take a tour bus which has a surcharge to neighboring beaches. Take my advice, if you are looking for a ""beach vacation"" with good accommodations, beautiful settings and reasonable prices check out one of the neighboring beach resorts that I traveled to. They may cost a little more, however most of them are all inclusive pricing. The prices in Fortaleza were unreasonable and the city had a high number of beggars and lots of police until 11p (I suppose the crime rate goes down at that time of the evening). You have been warned!
