We just returned from Mexico and am happy to report that the hotel Barcelo is a nice place to stay. If you are looking for a comfortable and reasonablly priced hotel this is it. Their facility is clean and the grounds are beautiful. Overall we couldnt find anything to gripe about. Go and relax on the beach and have a cervese.

As stated by other reviewers, the hotel is in need of modernization or upgrades. The rooms were clean and the maid did clean it well. We left her a dollar daily or two. Drinks seemed watered down but it was a good place to stay and i would recommend it to others. I believe they are working on getting better and my wife and i enjoyed our stay of 6 nights.

The location is beautiful. Unfortunately, the hotel needs updating and a good cleaning. Every day we were there, the ceiling in the lobby going to the elevators was torn down and repair work was being done. They would repair the ceiling one day, tear it back out the next. One of the days they cleaned our room, but left no towels or wash clothes, another day, no coffee. When you called to the main desk, it took over an hour to get anything. The worst part of the hotel is the lack of service. Very few spoke any English and none spoke it very well. Only half the bars were open, they didn't have enough personnel to take care of the guests and the food service was not very accommodating. I have never been to an all inclusive that wouldn't allow you to eat outside. They said it was for "sanitary" conditions. However, people sitting next to us were eating raw oysters, kids with ice cream cones, chips, dry cereal-all from the restaurant. When I tried to get a small pizza to take outside, I was stopped and told I couldn't do that. I asked for the manager and he told me I couldn't do that, when I told him I thought that was poor service, he walked off and didn't talk to me. Then, that night they sat table outside the bird netting because the hotel was full and they ran out of space.......so much for their concern for "sanitary" practices. We were also charged for room service, which I have never paid for at an all inclusive. I will never stay at a Barcelo hotel again. I will say their spa personnel gave great massages.

I loved this vacation. The hotel is wonderful and the view of the pools and ocean from the lobby is breathtaking. The easiest and most relaxing vacation I have ever taken. I recommend this hidden paradise to all. The hotel was great!
