  I would not recomment anyone to stay at this hotel. Normally I never write reviews for a hotel that I have stayed in, but I thought that I should at least help someone not make the same mistake I made. I am familiar with Santee because my parents are from there so it was no surprise that the hotel was so small and outdated. However when we arrived to check in late from a long drive from DC (448 miles) the attendant informed me that she had given my room away because she thought I had cancelled. She gave me a room and told me that if I was not pleased to come back in the morning to swap it out (in which she did). The room was in terrible condition, the floors in the bathroom where flithy and the room smellled like smoke. The heating and air unit was really noisey and only because I was exhausted after my dirve that I was able to fall asleep without hearing that it was so loud. Also the attendant seem to have lost my reservation upon arrival and I had to call the on line travel website and spend an additional 20 min on the phone with them to confim that the room was actually paid for. I just would never stay at another Travelodge again...not even if it was free.

  My family and I had the opportunity to visit Santee for a family reunion and stayed at Travelodge for two nights. The first time we opened the door to the room there was a smokey smell to it. The linens looked clean and all but they smelt like someone was smoking heavily in there. I thought that we were placed in a smoking room by mistake, but when I spoke to the manager on duty, he informed me that it's nonsmoking. Anyway, I caught one of the ladies that cleaned the rooms and complained about the smell. She promised to take care of it which I can say she did. The room smelt a little better after, but we still had to spray odor eliminator too
