I had agreed on a rate with the GM, which thankfully I had documented - I had to argue for it when I got there. The room was run down. Breakfast was over by 9am. The pool was very dirty. And the rooms were only acceptably clean, though they were in need of repair, as was the entire facility.

My father and I stayed at the Quality Inn in Tucumcari, June 14 2009 as part of a cross county moving trip. The first room they rented us had obviously not been cleaned between guests, as there was a significant amount of dog hair between the fitted sheet and the upper sheet on both beds (which I didn?t discover until after laying in it, which sparked a fairly severe allergic reaction). I talked to the lady at the front desk and she gave us a small discount and moved us to another room on an upper floor, which was less convenient for my elderly father, but we were tired, so I went with it. After that room was also dirty and I processed through how unclean the first room must have been to trigger my allergies so bad, in the morning I requested a refund from the desk attendant. She had to get the manager,who was rude and dismissive of our complaints, while we were still speaking, she literally walked away to a back room leaving us at the front desk, bewildered with no other choice but to just check out with the desk attendant and continue on our trip. Keep in mind, this all took place while the manager was standing under a sign that said things like, Satisfaction guaranteed, let us make this right, etc.? I even tried calling Choice Hotels, but they are not a parent company, instead just a customer service company hired by hotel managers. They couldn't do anything for me other than forward my complaint to the manager, who I had of course just had a bad experience with. In summary, there are alot of choices for hotels in Tucmucari. I would avoid this hotel at all costs

The staff was friendly and the rooms were among the cleanest we've encountered in a very long time. Even the shower worked like new. That's a real rare thing these days. The breakfast in the resturant was quick and very good. The coffee was excellent.
The evening meal the night before was another story alltogether. I ordered Ostrich which I had eaten there several years ago and was excellent. This time around it was not nearly so good, but the meat was acceptable. Wife ordered a broccoli alfrado dish that had only broccoli stems and sause that was thin as water.
I would definately stay at this motel again when in the area, but would find another place to eat other than breakfast.
