Interior is impressive. Lobby is custom-made registration desk and complementary antique sideboard in their new breakfast room. Lobby is cozy, yet elegant with marble fireplace. Business Center is a bonus with computer, but I used my laptop in my room with the wifi. Typical continental breakfast. Nice rooms have new furnishings several notches above average. Curved shower rods make morning shower feel roomy. Great pillowtop mattresses far exceed what I've experienced at $$$$$ hotels. Tastefully appointed. Great restaurant just 100 feet away. Took advantage of the complementary pass to a full gym just 2 minutes away made for a good workout on the road. Staff all wear nicer uniforms than the average motel. Friendly folks. Just 1/4 mile east of I-35 was convenient.

I stayed at this motel over Thanksgiving. I found the accomodations, amenities and service to be much more than I expected in this small town. And the room rate was very reasonable. The staff was friendly. The housekeepers promptly took care of my room while I had breakfast. The reception desk staff greeted me on arrival and when I had breakfast. My billing was accurate. I liked the security entrance doors, the central hallway and the security camera system. I don't typically see all these measures available in a small town. The owners are interested in my safety. The breakfast/lobby area allowed me to mingle with other guests. The food selection offered a nice variety. Having a printer connected to the business center computer allowed me to print my boarding pass for the airline flight. I am a retired travel agent (40 years in the business) and still critique every place I stay. This motel is a hidden gem; it would hold its own in a city.

The hotel was very clean, front desk help did not know much about places in the area to do things other than the casino. If you plan to get any sleep at all, forget it! Trains pass just a few hundred feet from the hotel all night every 20 minutes and love to blow their horns as they pass the hotel.

I guess for $** a night, this is what you would expect. The ""continental"" breakfast was anemic at best. Your choice for breakfast was Cheerios or Oatmeal, luke-warm water to ""cook"" your oatmeal with and juice of some sort. I expected a little bit more! The shower was horrible!! It took tiny movements to adjust the water temperature! Move the handle the slightest bit, and you either scalded yourself, or froze to death!! The hotel staff was nice but fairly incompetent! It took them 5 tries to have my electronic key work for more than 2 hours! Additionally, the train tracks were literally 50 feet from the hotel! I'll bet that a train goes by at least 2 times an hour day and night, and blares its horn. Given the chance again, I would GLADLY pay more to stay another hotel that offered more!

Totally remodeled/renovated inside. LUXURIOUS lobby! Very nice breakfast area. Rooms nicely furnished with great pillowtop mattresses. Staff are nice. Way underpriced for the caliber of the place. Don' t let the outside mislead you. Fitness Center pass to a full gym. Convenient.
