  We had reserved a room for 1 night the first leg of our trip and another 1 night the last leg of our trip via online travel website. I had confirmations for both stays. When we got there for our 1st night the woman told us we didn't have a reservation. I showed her the confirmation for the 2 nights, 1 for that night and 1 for 2 weeks later. After much discussion she finally found only the later reservation. She argued with me and said they were very busy. I was frustrated and asked her if she had a room for us or not and if not we could find somewhere else. She LAUGHED! Winnemucca is not the resort town of the rich & famous but it has plenty of "brand-name" chain motels that had vacancies. I should have left. She told me they have just 1 room that was a smoking room but it was very clean & didn't smell. I asked her if they would honor the rate of $* (actually $* w/taxes, etc) that I had booked. She said, "well I guess we'll have to". The room DID smell. I'm a smoker but my husband is not which is why we get non-smoking rooms and I usually smoke outside. I was able to tell it was a smoking room immediately. Luckliy it didn't bother my husband. To their credit, on the way back, our other reservation got us a non-smoking room in better condition.
