  For our first night on the road on our way to the coast, we decided not to book in advance, just stop somewhere along the way when we got tired. That took us to Morehead. We used Garmin to search for hotels, called the reception 20 minutes before we got there around to make sure they had a room--it was only two doubles, so we were tightly squeezed into our bed, but the beds themselves were very comfortable. The price was VERY reasonable and well within our budget. The hotel was very neat and clean and the room was immaculate! We had seen their billboards all along the way--the breakfast and showerhead was everything it promised to be. I especially loved the way they made beds--none of those disgusting itchy coverlets that are never washed. It was a nice clean fitted sheet, then a flat sheet, blanket and another clean flat sheet--they were just warm enough, but still so fresh and clean. I'll always pick the Holiday Inn Express before other chains just for the way the bed was made. Showerhead and really all the bathroom amenities were really nice. If we had had more than 2 people in the room, it would've been tight, but just the two of us fit perfect. Breakfast the next morning wasn't just continental breakfast--it was a FEAST and it was constantly being attended to by a very polite woman. Best random hotel stay EVER!

  Conversion hotel so rooms are small but very nice hotel overall. staff was friendly and room were clean.
