  I stay at the Caribe every summer for 1-2 weeks when visiting friends in Merida. The staff is very accommodating and I feel very safe walking alone at night to and from the hotel. The rooms are not fancy, but when I am in Mexico, I don't want the Hyatt. The hotel is very clean and the location is convenient for activities in the center of town and for shopping. Authentic Yucatecan food is offered, and it's good and reasonably priced. The pool is not great - it is not deep and there is no place to sit to get out of the sun, but it is sufficient to get cooled off. I will stay there again in June.
