I made a reservation at the Inn in mid April, 2009 for a weekend in mid May. They never sent me a confirmation so I called three days before what I thought was my scheduled arrival. I found out that they had reserved the wrong day and I was being charged for an overnight for being a 'no show'. I spoke with the owner of the Inn, who was very abrupt, and she assured me that they do not make these kind of mistakes. I told her that I considered this to be a fraud and an unauthorized use of my credit card. I have filed a dispute with my credit card company. When you think of it..this is a great scam...screw up a reservation...don't send a confirmation and charge for it too. On top of that..they rented out the room as well!! So be careful when dealing with this Inn keeper....

In mid April I made a reservation for a weekend in May. The person making the reservation was very helpful and knowledgable about the Inn. I made the reservation for a weekend in mid May. All seemed fine until I realized that I didn't receive a written confirmation so I called the Inn three days before my scheduled arrival. It appears that the reservation was made for an earlier weekend. They considered me a 'no show' and charged my credit card for an overnight. I contacted , the owner of the Inn and she was quite abrupt and told me that everything they had done was correct and I was liable for the * room charge. I told her that her staff made an error and I was never sent a confirmation. She told me that could not happen. I have reported this to my credit card company as I now consider this to be a fraud and an unauthorized use of my credit card. I am refusing to pay. This is a great scam to make money...screw up the reservation and dont send out a confirmation and charge the person for an overnight while you rent out the room anyway. I have stayed in this Inn in the past and it was quite charming and delightful. THE OWNER is a new owner and I understand that the Inn is showing its age. She also is a crook....so be very careful dealing with this place.... I wish you well in your travels......

Room: For the amount of money we paid, we were incredibly disappointed when we walked into our motel room. From their website and description we expected a nicely decked out place, but we get an average room one would find at most roadside motels. Our window faced the parked cars, and the place was a little worn, musty and dark. However, it's location is good for people who want to be near seaport museum and town. Amenities: We could live with the shortcomings, but we took issue with the lack of Wi-Fi, which was advertised on their website. Because we both work on our laptops, we called the front desk three times. The staff said they would reset the router and call us back, but we never got the call. Food: The next morning we decided to get the included breakfast, but when we got to the dining room we first waited to get our table and then there was a long line to get what amounted to bread, one frittata for an entire dining room, boxes of cereal and hardboiled eggs. There were 2 harried waitresses and one cook to serve all these people, so we figured that it would be a long wait to even get a cup of coffee once we were seated. We left the hotel well before check out so we could get a meal. We generally love being in our hotel room and stay until the last minute enjoying the amenities but we looked forward to getting back home as soon as possible. For the same amount of money we would go to one of the name brand hotels instead.

We made our reservation based on the book "1,000 Places to See in the US and Canada Before You Die". The book recommended staying in the Mansion, one of several buildings that make up the Inn at Mystic. We stayed in the Motor Inn building to save money. This building was just a run of the mill motel. The room was nicely decorated and clean, but the furniture and carpet were cheap and worn. The beds were soft with pretty linens but the pillows were hard and uncomfortable. The bathroom was small, with the usual inadequate space for towels. The only place to put clothing in the toilet/bath area was a hook on the door. No shelf space in there whatsoever; the motel stored extra towels on top of the toilet tank. The staff was pleasant, and there were two dogs in the reception area who greeted guests during the day. The price included a buffet breakfast in the onsite restaurant.

My husband and I found the hotel so wonderful in November of 2006 that we came back with two other couples in May of 2007. Our rooms were immaculate, the hotel's location is perfect for anyone visiting the Mystic area, and the service was incredible. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling in or around Mystic, CT
