We stayed for 3 days in July - height of the season. we were happily surprised to find we had a slate patio outside our room, complete with wicker furniture. This backed up to the golf course and a small water view. This is an Inn, not a hotel room - so don't expect a refrigerator or table and chairs. It is an elegantly appointed bedroom. The staff was very freindly and helpful, expecially with the parking lot being especially crowded and parking at a premium. The town of Chatham is right outside your door. You never need to to get back in your car. My favorite part of the experience was curling up in the comfortable wicker furniture on the wrap around porches sipping a glass of wine before we strolled out to dinner. Very relaxing, enjoyable experience. The crowds were overwhelming in the town. Better choice would be after Labor day.

Arriving May 24, 2008 we were pleased the perfectly adequate-appearing room #209. We did not trace the source of the smell in the room until 6:20 the next morning, when the restaurant exhaust fans just outside our open window started to work. We are fairly early risers and not inclined to complain a lot, but by the afternoon, the heavy scent of eau-de-burnt-toast and the oily, old grease spewing out from the exhaust fan right at and through our window was truly unbearable. Our complaint at the desk was met with what can only be described as derision: ?Why, you wanted the cheapest room ? what did you expect?? Unacceptable on every count. 1. We did not know that Room 209 was a grease pit during the season when the windows are open. 2. We did not know when we booked in November that this was, at $ a night, the cheapest room. 3. We are experienced travelers and disposed to be accommodating about occasional inconveniences. In this case, the desk clerk was rude and condescending in the extreme. She did offer us the chance to pay for a "premium" room at a very much higher price but we declined. And so we stayed for the second night and, awakening at 6:20 am when the fans started producing greasy fumes, we checked out as soon as possible. Our letter of complaint has been ignored entirely. Our advice is to avoid this hotel entirely.

My wife and I stayed one weekend just as a last minute escape before the holiday season took over. It was a great time had by both of us! The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Our maid kept our room immaculate. Cant wait to next year to make it a yearly tradition!
