the front desk was spectacular. She listened with empathy and responsive to our needs. She opened the conversation with a warm and friendly smile and exceeded our expectations. She would be a reason why we would come back. I cannot be more satisfied with her. The slot staff was blase. Only one woman even smiled at me. I played for about two hours on the video poker machine. No one even came in my area. There were only half a dozen players at the wee hours of this morning. I heard a cocktail waitress yelling for drinks, but never saw one, ever. We ate at the buffet and was less than inspired. The staff were very friendly, but the food was either cold or crusty, for the most part. It had a nice ambience. We went for brunch at Harrah's buffet and was shocked at the difference. We even thought about booking our next stay at Harrah's, just because of the food. Unfortunately, there was no incentive on the Monday night that we stayed. That would explain why the casino floor was slower than usual.

Likes: Very nice room for the price, husband enjoyed golfing, enjoyed relaxing at pool/spa, and pool had a waterfall. Dislikes: Pool was smaller than it looked in photo, shallow, & lukewarm for 100+ weather, hotel will not let you check in before 4 pm if you arrive early, and don't order chorizo & egg borrito at Feather's Cafe.

Spent one night on our way back from Taos. Room was basic, paid $120 for it. Skip the breakfast buffet, wasn't worth the $12/ea we paid. Food was cold, unappetizing, and few choices that I wanted. Mostly mexican flavored, which doesn't appeal to me. Same with Feathers Cafe, ordered steaks which were paper thin and lacking in flavor. We did like having KidQuest available, pool was nice - it was 112 when we were there - but wouldn't go out of my way to stay again. Tightest slot machines I've encountered in a very long time.

  • Love this hotel!

We have been going to the Avi for years. It has it's own private cove so young kids can swim in the water without having to worry about the strong current of the river. You can also launch PWC/Boats off of their own ramp. The pool is beautiful and they have a seperate side just for the kids so the adults have their own space. We have gone there with and without our kids and we all love it. There is an arcade and a movie theatre for the older kids. Then there is a kids club for the younger ones to be dropped off to play. As for the gambling, I find their machines to be pretty tight. Years ago, before the Avi was really ""discovered"", we won pretty often. Now it seems that it's become a pretty popular place, they have tightened them up. It is about 15 miles south of the mail strip, so it is an easy ride to go visit there. Oatman is about a 30 minute ride which is worth it for the kids. Of course, I cannot go without mentioning the food. Friday night is a seafood buffet that is amazing! Saturday night is prime rib buffet which is my favorite anywhere. You cannot go wrong here, join their members club, you get emails with special packages that make it well worth your money! Now that I have gotten all the good stuff out of the way... They do need to update some of the older rooms and the beds haven't been real great. The beach tower are only available for the 1 king size bed which is a shame because when you have kids, the view would be good for them instead of the parking lot.
