We stayed one night in the Grand Targhee Lodge. It is an old all wood two story lodge with eight rooms and one stairwell at one end of the building. If you have a room on the second floor and don't have the room by the stairs I reccomend taking your own fire ladder. The fitness center and hot tub were closed for repairs.

Food was unexceptableThe restaurant had a limited (burgers, salad, & sandwiches) menu the night we arrived - price/value/quality was OK. Breakfast was totally unacceptable. The restaurant was supposed to be open until 10:30, but closed before 8:30, so we had to go to the "deli". they offered a choice of 2 stale bagels or some stale mini-muffins. The staff was so embarrassed, they did not charge for the stale bagel. I purchased a yogurt only to discover it was a week past its sell by date. The next day the restaurant was open for breakfast, but they were serving stale danish pastries. This resort is at least 30 minutes from the nearest grocery store and about 90 minutes from Jackson, the nearest restaurants. The views were wonderful, but the lack of acceptable food makes this a place to avoid.

The hotel is in a beautiful location but 12 miles from the nearest town, the rooms were good size but very dark inside. None of the ice machines or hot tubs at the hotel were in working order. The food available was poor to fair but overpriced much of the staff in the restarant was not very friendly or helpful but seemed to be pushing you to finish and leave. The best part of the stay was the people that set up the recreation they were very friendly and helpful finding fun stuff to do with my children. The ski lift was fun and the view from the top and hiking were great also.

My family and I have skied at Grand Targhee for the past 6 years. You just cannot beat the powder, the non-existent lift lines and the beauty of the Tetons! What more could you ask for!
The staff have always been very friendly and helpful, we see many of the same faces year after year. Yes, the rooms are not 5 star! ! But they are always clean and comfortable. We are looking forward to seeing the newly renovated condos. The food choices are limiited, but the food is very good. Especially the all you can eat Alaskan king crab legs on Tuesday nights. My husband and I make that our date night! The resort is great for families, just give them the walkie talkies and a couple of dollars for hot chocolate and off they go! It is perfectly safe!
I do hope that as the expand Targhee they will maintain the integrity of the resort and not just seek to draw in the crowds. It is a little bit of snow heaven for this Houston girl! -

Ended up staying at Grand Targhee in June as the accommodations were reasonable in comparison to the Jackson Hole, WY vicinity. The drive to and fro is a bit tiresome.
The bedroom itself was nice sized, although it could have used a better cleaning (for example cobwebs hanging from the ceiling and marks on the wall from what I assume was ski equipment). Nice comfy comforters. The bathroom was tiny and could use updating. Flatscreen TV was a nice touch; however, very few channels and even fewer with clear reception. Lighting in the rooms was poor and hallway lighting was almost nonexistent. The room doors were light duty--could use an upgrade to a heavier door or at least heavier door locks. Elevators would also be a nice amenity to have available when lugging considerable luggage.
Restaurant availability was limited in hours and fin foodstuffs (were sold out of lettuce, soup, etc.), although the service was very friendly.
An 'ok' spot, but not one I would recommend paying that much for. Occupancy rate was only about 33% during our stay--very quiet--shoot for a great rate if you're considering staying in the off-winter season.
