  THE ONLY GOOD THING ABOUT THE HOTEL WAS THE STAFF AND LOCATION. I COULD NOT BELIEVE THEY SAY THEY ARE 5 STARS! I HAVE TRAVELED ALL OVER THE WORLD AND THIS HOTEL WAS THE WORST YET! I MEAN A BASIC HOTEL IN CIRO, EGYPT WAS MUCH BETTER. I CANNOT BELIEVE I PAID $100 A NIGHT FOR THIS HORRIBLE HOTEL. SURE IT WOULD BE WORT $30 DOLLARS BUT NOT THE PRICE I PAID. NO IRON, SAFETY DEPOSIT BOX BROKEN, A/C WAS DIRTY, ETC, ETC. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST!

  This untouristy hotel is in the heart of the historic district very close to the main square which on weekends is the hub of Merida's excellent free cultural arts programs. The staff was extremely friendly, helpful, professional and most bi-lingual. The daily breakfast buffet was extensive and an excellent way to sample the local cuisine. The rooms were clean and had a safe, and efficient hot water and air-conditioning. There was a tour rep in the lobby. Several cable stations included English channels (CNN, HBO, Cinemax). The small pool is clean and uncrowded.
