This property has the nicest tropical garden setting Ive ever seen, it made 86 degress seem very comfortable. All kinds of trees and plants, probably the best location and the best beach area on 7 mile. Not too far to any activities and not too far to "downtown". We walked uptown a couple of times and paid 1.00 per person to taxi back. The snorkeling out front was nice, we saw some starfish. But for a real snorkel trip, Captain Moses had his boat out front and he took us to the Cliff area and caves and out to the reef to do some excellent snorkeling, thousands of fish etc.. He also took us to "Ricks Cafe" and one other spot to jump off the cliffs. Very relaxing atmosphere. The people at the Bird are excellent, Miss Lilly and Barbara made our stay very enjoyable. The food is very good. The rooms have just been remodelled with new tile etc... our Family of 5 stayed for almost a couple of weeks. We did run the fans at night to neutralize the music from next door. We walked the beaches at night and during the day. Some really great local juices and fruits, as well as "the Cake Lady" - were some highlights of the local "pedlers" on the beach. The Mayfeild river walk and Black river safari were some of the best side trips. You will not be dissapointed with a stay at the Wistling Bird... a very good value ....it will be time to go home before you know it.
