When I checked into this hotel the desk clerk was standing outside smoking and talking on her cell phone. She ran in behind the desk and began checking us in. She swiped my credit card and then I saw her take it in the back and make a copy of the front of it. She came back out to finish the check in then went back to make a copy of the back. I stopped her. She said their machine wasn't working. However, she had swiped it. She said it was policy to make a copy of the card. This is how people steal your credit card info. She was very mad at me for stopping her. She slammed the key cards on the counter and said I was checked in. When I asked for our room number she was very rude, told me, then went back out to smoke and talk on her cell. We had never stayed here and did not know where the room was. When we got to the room it was very cold. The A/C was on when it was in the 20s outside. The bathroom was dirty. Since it was only for one night, we stayed. However, we will be coming back to Defiance for several extended visits and will not be staying here.

I am in Defiance several times a year and have stayed here in the past. It's certainly nothing to write home about but for the price it's fine. Rooms are clean, breakfast is typical basic breakfast.

I have taken my father to visit his family and stayed here many times because it is the cheapest. every single time it is the exact same thing. he gets sick. he's ok when we leave, he's ok before we get there. but after spending a night here, he always wakes up ill. I also feel queezy when i wake up. i believe it has sick building syndrom.
