My daughter and I stayed at this property in January 2009. I have had good experiences at HI Express properties in the past, but this one is old and needs refurbishment. The facility is not particularly clean and the pool was less than impressive (more of a therapeutic pool from a hospital). I have stayed at other chains in the Salina area that were far superior for the same price. You do get the added bonus of staying next to a truck stop with diesels running all night and you're within a stone's throw of the interstate.

Every time we stay at a Holiday Inn Express, we are pleased, and this was no exception. I went looking for tea about 10:30 PM, but the hot water dispenser was empty. The front desk clerk kindly unlocked the kitchen and got a pot of hot water for me. Great service! The breakfast was good, with hot scrambled eggs and bacon. Would have been nice to have a waffle maker, but there were plenty of other choices. We didn't have a dog, but we saw (and petted) several of them, so the hotel seemed to be truly "pet-friendly." If we're ever in Salina again, this would be the first place I'd look for. However, I would book the room directly, since online travel charged me nearly 20% more than the actual cost of the room.
