We picked this hotel because our daughter and her husband live near it. They teach at an American school. This is a decent hotel. Everything worked fine--air conditioning, internet, phones, etc. Only complaint was the bed. Like many hotels in China, the bed is very, very hard. Before agreeing to a particular rooom, test the bed first. We didn't do that. If need be do as we did and use an air mattress purchased from the local Wal-Mart. Truly, the bed was more like a plank of wood than a bed. Otherwise, the hotel was fine, moderately priced and clean. The staff was helpful but their English was limited. The hotel is next to an American school but across the street from some cheap bars. While walking in this area, it is not unusual for unaccompanied males to be approached by girls from the bars. That said, the area is safe and public transportation--buses and taxis--easily accessible. In particular, the hotel is within easy walking distance of the ferry that takes you from the HK airport. The ferry is a goood deal and makes customs fairly easy as your bags are picked up from the air carrier and then delivered to you in Shekou at customs. Customs was quick and efficient. My wife and I are 62 years of age and live in middle America. While we have traveled some, we are not "world travelers." We would recommend this hotel. October, 2009.
