My family stayed here over Labor Day weekend. The resort property is beautiful and well maintained. The staff was friendly and attentive. The rooms were very clean and the view of the beach was great. There were people from all over the world there which made for very good people watching. When we reported that the air conditioning was not working correctly in our room maintenance came immediately. If you speak Spanish it makes communicating a lot easier, but we really had no big problems. Lots of choices when it came to eating, but the a la carte restaurants were the way to go instead of the big buffets. The whole family had a great vacation and would recommend the resort if you are open to experiencing something that you don't get at resorts in the US.

During our stay, the resort restaurants held a special New Year's Gala for which we had no prior knowledge. We attended the ?Gala? (held at all resort buffet restaurants), assuming that this was part of our all-inclusive? package as were all other meals and activities during our stay. Upon checkout, we were told that we owed another $260 for our family's attendance at the New Year's Gala. While we did indeed attend the Gala, we explained that we had no prior knowledge of the Gala, including the extra charge for it. The staff then called the online travel website (the telephone charge was apparently added on to the $260!!) in an attempt to rectify the problem. However, for the following 90 minutes, the online travel website did not answer their calls ""due to storm related backups"". Since we were late to catch our flight home and the staff was quite aggressive and belligerent at this point, we gave them our VISA, knowing we be stuck working it out upon our return home. I spent the better part of the next day (1/2/09) on the phone with the online travel website who called the hotel and, then referred me to the resort booking agent. I sent the agent my information from the online travel website upon booking the trip which clearly DOES NOT state an extra charge to us for a New Year's Gala dinner. Although he stated that the online travel website would, in fact, cover the charge, it was ultimately posted to my VISA bill on 1/8 and now I have to dispute it with the VISA company, something I've never done since having charge cards for nearly 30 years! I never thought I could feel more stressed AFTER returning from a Caribbean vacation, than before I left.

Palladium Palace Turquesa Suites Adults Only

My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon. We decided to go all out and go for the adult only suites with your own butler and 24 hour room service. Well, upon arrival - after a very long flight we decided to try out our room service. After two orders and still no food, we walked to the lobby to look for our ""butler"". I think we maybe saw her twice our entire stay. We were given a small bottle of Skyy vodka and had a minibar in our room, however we had to call to have it refilled. The maids were really nice and the bartenders were great but we hated the food. I bet I lost weight on my honeymoon! I hated the buffets - ended up eating mostly pizza and french fries - which I normally do not do. The ""sports bar"" is open 24/7 & I thought I might just eat a hot dog but when I opened the door the buns were kept in there were bugs on them. The a la carte restaurants were a bit better, the mexican restaurant was probably our favorite. Los Torres has a pretty good buffet when it was asian night. The spa services were okay, my massage was very quick paced and absolutely no attention to the neck at all. The pools were kept very neat, along with the grounds and the beach was beautiful! We actually had an amazing time, our suite was nice with a jacuzzi on our balcony.. basically our only complaints were the food and part of the staff. We did two excursions, horseback riding on the beach and the speed boats - highly recommended! Pack some food in your suitcase if you can everyone!!

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Grand Palladium Palace for a over before Christmas. We stayed with two other couples and we all had a fabulous time. Upon arrival, we were immediately upgraded to the Royal Suites. This is an 18+ area (no kids) with a private beachfront, pool, and restaurant. Being in my late twenties, this was fantastic. We didnt hear a single baby crying or tempertantrum the entire week we were here. The resort is made up of 3 hotels and you have access to all of them. The staff is extremely friendly and accomidating. Food at the a la carte restaurants was great and even the buffets were decent. No one out of our party got sick from the food or water. They are very careful to make sure everything is bottled and ice is bagged, so no worries there. We did a few excursions as well. I highly recommend Catalina Island - Ive been there twice and its just beautiful. Beaches are gorgeous and the island is surronded by a reef so there is lots of snorkeling. We also went Scuba diving with the Dolin Dive Center - they were fantastic there! Our guide was wonderful and we saw some amazing sea life. Overall, our trip was perfect... it was low key and relaxing but if you wanted something more up beat then you could find it. Tips: Bring little goodies for the maids - we had plentiful towels and bottles of water. A little something and a few dollars is greatly appreciated by them. Also, many people dont tip at the restaurants, but if you do, your service is impecable. Granted, this is an all inclusive but the staff there only makes the equivlent of $200.00 american dollars a month - so please tip!
