Fourth visit to Cancun and this has been our favorite for the money. Food was great, staff always pleasant, extremely clean everywhere, huge pool, snorkel reefs from beach, paddle boats, windsurf, sail.....ALL INCLUDED! Drinks not watered down, wonderful fitness room included (spa extra), hot tub in every room. The only down sides are that it takes a few hours from the airport, a lot of sharp coral on beach (watershoes helpful), property is very large and spread out (we like to walk, so great for us), and night life is not really set up for partying young people. It was perfect for us, we will return.

  • Fabulous Resort - Would return tomorrow!

We stayed at the Colonial(were booked into the Kantenah ) We visited from Feb 16-23/09. My husband and I are in our mid 50's and we took our kids aged 19 & 22 during Reading Week. We could not have asked for a better place. I had a hard time finding my way around tho,as there are 4 lobbies we had access to. The kids had no problem at all finding the short cuts. Arrived at 10:30am, we couldnt get into our rooms until 3. We changed and went to the pool - headed to the bar. (We packed our swimsuits in our carry-ons) . Safes in the room are free (website shows $) Pools are fabulous . The buffet food was teriffic - lots to choose from especially for our 19 yr old picky eater daughter They did not have reservations for the a la carte restaurants (it does say otherwise on the website), so unless we were there at 5pm, it was difficult to get in. We were usually still at the beach at 5pm. There was a 2 hour wait for most of the a la carte restaurants. Only got into the Mediterranean - excellent !BBQ on the beach was well worth going to. Lots to choose from. Drinks were great - no complaints from anyone but me - I found them a bit too strong. Snorkelling off the hotel beach fabulous. Take lots of 20 peso notes or US $1 bills for tipping - bartenders much friendlier when you tip! Buy alcohol and smokes in Playa del Carmen or at duty free. Real jungle atmosphere - agouti, iguanas, great beach - not great for swimming tho. Coral and rocks. Water and ice cubes fine - tap water fine to drink too - everything filtered twice.

  • Great for all ages!

We traveled with 15 people from ages 17-47. Everyone enjoyed themselves. The service was the best. There were so many food choices. We are past cruisers and this was our first time at an all-inclusive resort. We were so pleased with this resort, we are planning our next trip soon!

This was my girlfriend and my first time to Mexico. This trip was AWESOME! The hotel was so beautiful! There are multiple Grand Palladium hotels within the confines of this resort. I picked Colonial at random because I could see it was a solid 4 star hotel and since GP's website was not very revealing. As it turns out, there is the Colonial (built 10 years ago) and Kenatah (built 3 years ago), the White Sands, and the Grand Yuccatan (5 star). All of these properties are within walking distance and their MASSIVE outdoor lobbies grouped next to each other in two's. The resort is on several hundred acres. It's massive and ! Be prepared to walk! The Colonial and Keenatah rooms are in small 3story buildings. Every inch of each building has beautiful marble flooring. Same with all lobbies! The outdoor stairwells and walkways. The bathrooms. All marble! There is a digital room safe that works well. Cable TV (TV was a little small in the JR suite but we saw some large flat screens being installed in some of the larger suites). The AC works well. Room refrigerator restocked daily. The rooms were IMMACULATELY CLEAN! Not a speck of dirt or dust anywhere! No bugs! They cleaned everyday and when we left a $2 (20peso) tip in the room with a little thank you note, we received a towel folded into a swan on our bed. The patio was private. we slept with our patio door open all night. Beautiful beach! Pretty clear sea water. Multiple restaurants. Spa. The FOOD was AMAZING- especially the international buffet. The buffets changed menus from day to day but they all seemed to be on pace with 1 another. Pools were a little cold. Hotel travel company arranged snorkeling & mayan excur.
