My husband and I are 'mature' (and very experienced) travelers, and I have just booked our 3rd visit there. I like the Wyndham because the beach is RIGHT THERE and is enormous and UNCROWDED; you don't have to fight for an umbrella. Forget the pool, the beach is gorgeous. If you walk until you are shoulder deep in the water, you are at a little reef with its pretty fish. I like the burger bar on the beach, with fresh tomatoes, lettuce and onions offered with the burgers. The Junkaroo food is mediocre at best, staff is mediocre at best and the shows are really just for children. But to sit at 5:00 with a drink and watch people trying the high wire -- very pleasant. I don't drink to get drunk so watering the drinks doesn't bother me. And you can live on the fruits and breads along with bits of meat from Junkaroo. I always find a 'good deal' package including air fare, and find that we have a lot of white sand for not a lot of money.

Sorry to say, but I would not recommend this resort. The food is like cafeteria quality. There are a few pans set out and if you don't get there early then the food runs out quick. The hot tub was a warm tub. The beach is beautiful, but the vendors make the day unpleasant. They are constantly stalking you like sharks and you can't just relax and enjoy the scenery. Why can't they have a place on the property to sell their wares instead of the beach? I took a windsurfing lesson and the teacher was so rude and condescending. The front desk personnel are also rude. The shows are mediocre. The dancers kept looking at each other to see if they did their steps. The best show was Game night. It was so funny. Kudos to whoever wrote it. The snorkeling is great. I do recommend a trip with the dive shop. They are very professional. There is no ATM machine so bring cash. You will have to take a $30 cab ride to get into town. Trapeze lesson was fun - the trainers very nice. They need to get another foosball table - the one they had was in constant use. The disco DJ played music that he liked and people just ended up leaving. The late night pizza is excellant. All in all shop around and find a better place - this one needs to work on customer service and food quality.

We had a lovely 2 night stay at the Wyndham. However I must agree with a previous review- if you demand luxury, fine dining, etc this probably is not the resort for you. The sales staff cornered us while we waited to get into our room, and we feel that she ""stalked"" us for the rest of the stay-even though we didn't showa lot of interest in buying into their scheme. Our room was small and definitely in need of cosmetic repair. The room was clean-it could have been cleaner. That said, all of our worries disappeared, when we opened the sliding doors and saw the most beautiful powdery white sand and torquoise water-just steps from our room. There were plenty of loungers and umbrellas and the staff provided towels right away. The buffet food was okay. We ate at both restaurants and found the food to be tasty and filling. Again, it is not spectacular, but it is not terrible. We found the bartenders to be very generous with the alcohol! The snack shop on the beach was convenient, again food was okay. The resort provided free snorkel gear and we really enjoyed the small reefs at the resort site. The entertainment in the evenings was great-the staff was awesome and very personable. Our daughters enjoyed the free trapeze lessons, provided by the staff that had performed the previous night. The beaches and water are amazing, I believe there are plenty of activities to be offered. Do be prepared, the taxis are pricey. Overall, we had a good experience at the Wyndham. We will definitely return to the Bahamas--may explore other resort locations though.

My wife and I stayed a week here for our honeymoon, and I would give this resort a decent rating. This is a good resort because of its beautiful beach, its seclusion, and its nice but small rooms. The food was nothing to brag about, especially since I got food poisoning from the pizza, and the specialty restaurants were disappointing. Some staff members were friendly, while others were apathetic. The activities were okay, but the staff who operated the shack where watersports equipment could be checked out were unfriendly and very apathetic. I would have rated the activities as bad, but our glass bottom boat trip was awesome, and we had a blast checking out the free, available bicycles to ride into town. We rode the bicycles about 4 to 5 miles to the Port Lucaya Marketplace and spent two great days there enjoying the scenery and shopping. On our second trip to the Marketplace, we boarded a bus to the International Bazaar. The Internatioinal Bazaar is in a depressed state because of damage from a hurricane that passed through a few years ago, but it has a lot of potential, and with the right entrepreneural spirit, it could once again be a bustling place. International Bazaar highlights include an outstanding East Asian shop and a fabulous perfurme shop and factory. The lady who owns and manages the perfume shop and factory is passionate about her work and sells good products, and visiting the Bazaar is worth it just to see her shop and factory. This resort's stunning, beautiful beach makes it a good resort, but next time we go to the Bahamas, we're going to choose Nassau over Freeport. Tip: If you want to explore, use the bicycles and buses. Rentals and taxis are costly.

This place is by far only a one star. We were there for 7 days. Bad things: the food is very bad and cold (my boyfriend got sick because of it), they had the same food everyday, the drinks came in 6 oz cups and the alcohol was watered down, the staff was rude when my boyfriend was around, as soon as they left they hit on me, I can not express how BAD the food was for 7 DAYS! The only thing you could eat was the pizza but you had to wait untill 11pm. By that time, everyone was hoarding over it. None of the bulidings were air conditioned except our room. The hot water was scarce. One lady said she did not have any the whole week. The two restaurants were as bad as the main one! The ocean water was not clear at all. This was a big dissapointment. We read mixed reviews and took our chance, but I would never ever ever return again. This ""resort"" is not a resort, it feels like you are at summer camp. The main restaurant had a microwave..hmmm I wonder why! The hotel has wireless but it is 15 dollars a day! Also, don't make phone calls on the pay phones. They make you swipe your card with no way of knowing how much it cost! Well..it was $40 a call no matter if it was for one minute! Overall this place was horrible and I lived off dessert and bread. Also, the mini bar they talk about..hahaha is for VIP only, which I fail to know how you are a VIP. There are no bottled waters or cokes, but they do have a store there that is pricey! There is no snack bar..only hotdogs and fries!! DO not go!!
