excellent location and exterior. hallways and room sizing make hotel borderline claustrophobic. poolside rooms only accessible from exterior of hotel and lack sufficient locks and maintence of extrior doors to permit the rooms from being deemed safe. we had to push a dresser from accross the room infront of the door to feel safe at night. no inroom movies or dvd player to help offset limted channel selection. cell phone and wfi service very poor and IPHONEs, even they admit , dont work in the hotel. room service is limited to breakfast, and the hotel bar closes at 10 pm. our room could only be described as poorly maintained, with primer only patched walls, numerous broken electical outlet face plates, cracks in walls, and a missing window crank all combined with cobwebs and & corner dirt . a/c for gardenlevel poolside rooms are of the room specific variety built into the wall and are undersized and very noisy, 24 hour continous operation could only drop room temp to a humid 70. as if all of the above wasn't bad enough we were abruptly awoken each night between 11 and 2 by glass reclying, read large volumes of glass being smashed.

The hotel is great.I will stay there again next time i go back to bar harbor.staffs are all nice.excellent location,right in downtown by the water.pool is wonderful even when it's raining and 62 degrees outside.i'll recommend this hotel to anybody.

We stayed at this beautiful hotel and were so disappointed. We paid $$$ a night for a two bedroom suite with balcony and instead we got a corner room on the pool with the opposite bed configuration then was told to us and in pictures. We were next to a housekeeping room that was none stop all night. One of our doors did have a number on it so the staff confused it for the housekeeoing room trying to open the door until 4am . No apologies and despite countless efforts the manger was not available. The hallway smelt funny. Nightmare. Ironically they came in to clean our room at 3:45pm after we were all out of the room from 9am to 3:30pm As the result we missed the whale watching at 4 pm because they asked us go wait in lobby till done . When we returned to shower after hiking dirty towels were on the floor and a toilet was clogged. Big money big headache

How nice it was to go to New England and stay at this wonderful hotel. My wife and kids had a great time in the heated pool that overlooked the Bar Harbor Bay. We highly recommend this location and will come back soon.

My husband I and I just returned from a 3 night stay at the harborside and we had a wonderful time. We stayed on the second floor in a island view king room. We would definately select this same room type again, the view was far better then that of the other less expensive rooms. Highlights: perfect location (no need to drive at all), extremely friendly/helpful staff, great breakfast, the room was even bigger and nicer than expected, very comfy bed, quiet. The few negatives that we noticed were minor: some stains on the carpet in room and hallway (but room and hotel were very clean overall), the water in the shower did not get vey hot in the morning. Some of our recommendations (if you are interested)...If you would like to do a short, moderate hike while you are there we recommend the great head trail. It is about 1.5 miles and has some great views. There is a $* charge to enter acadia, but that charge lasts the whole week. The view from the top of cadillac mountain is amazing, great for taking pictures. We had a great seafood dinner at Galyn's in town. Moderately priced, good atmosphere but not too stuffy, great service, great lobster, good wine selection. We will definately eat there again on our next trip. For light/casual fare we ate at Rupununi's. It was a fun bar with a good beer selection. We had steamers, wings and clam chowder, all were excellent. The service was quite slow though, but we sat at the bar the second time and it was a lot better. Overall, great hotel, great location, great trip- we will definately be back.
