My husband and I stayed at the Palladium for a mini break in October . When I booked the Mayan Suite it stated beachfront with an outdoor shower . Well it had the outdoor shower but unfortunately we were not facing the beach . The room left much to be desired !!!!! Not 4 Star Quality ..... The al a carte dining facilities were descent at most and the buffets were not good at all . The food did not taste right . Also the first day we were there I asked what types of wine they had and the bartender looked at me like I had five heads and stated Red or White . I understand all inclusive but I expect at a 4 star resort to have at least a choice! The grounds were beautiful going from resort to resort there are like 5 that are connected but bring bug spray - I've never had so many bug bites before in my life. From morning until night I was covered in Bug Spray . This place is to far from Cancun and if you want help from anyone be prepared to tip and the nthey are your best friend !

Our fourth time at the Riviera Maya, but first time at the Palladium. We got just wthat we were looking for. Beautiful lush grouds and great pools and beach. The hotel complex is quite big so be prepared to do some walking. Trains are available, but we only used them to go from lobby to lobby due to the heat or late at night. When we arrived we were gladly informed that reservations were no longer needed for the specialty restaurants. Food was good, something for everyone. Buffets were great but we ended up eating too much. So we decided to go to the specialty restaurants only. Loved the Japanese, mediterranean, BBQ and Mexican. Rotizio was very bad, meat was not good at all. Drinks were ok, NOT all the bartenders make the drinks the same way. Many times I was very dissapointed with the way they prepared some of the drinks. The room was not vey big but, good enough for my husband and I. The hotel is eco friendly so, if you want new towels make sure to leave the wet ones on the floor not hanging, we learned the hard way. Make sure to visit the sea water pool at the Riviera Hotel, there you can swim with colorful fish. Tip: bring water shoes to swim in the ocean, and lots of dollar bills for tips. Overall great place, friendly staff. beautiful grounds.

Went down with the wife and another couple to have a stress free, relaxing holiday. Figured all inclusive was the way to go - no worries about the credit card bill that awaits you when you get home, right? Luckily, I was pretty much dead on with that assumption - for the most part. I'll get to that in a minute. The location, grounds, and staff were fantastic. Talk about big - this place is huge. Down there a week and I think we may have seen 1/2 of it - maybe. Incredible pool area, nice beach, and bars are within stumbling distance. The bartenders are great guys and will make just about anything you want. All expected ammenities are provided as one would expect - great beach towels too. The food was very good - did the buffet 4 nights and a la carte for 3 nights (brazilian steakhouse, japanese, and mediteranian). My only issue with this place was the room when we first got there. We checked in, got the keys to the room and went in expecting to find the standard room with king-size bed. Unfortunately, they had us and the other couple we were with both in rooms with 2 twin beds. I don't think so... Went back to the front desk and was told that we'd be added to a 'waiting list' for a king-size bed. 3 days or so at best. Ended up paying $80- per night to upgrade to their 'Mayan Suite'. Great room - right off the beach. Large and had a great private outdoor shower that was well worth it. Unfortunately the wife found out that if we'd book this room on-line, it would have been $30- per night. Moral of the story - know well what you're booking first.

We just returned from a very nice Spring Break stay. Our 18 year old daughter and her friend had a great time. Lots of kids their age and plenty of bars for them to play in. The facilities are very nice, gorgeous, huge pools, our room was plenty big, particularly for this type of resort, most of the beach was very nice, etc. The downside was very mediocre service. The folks at the front desk were not rude, but certainly not happy to see you. Requests for currency exchange or another room key seemed to be a real bother to them. In the morning the pool area still had cups strewn about from the previous day and spilled drinks had not yet been cleaned up. They eventually were. Restaurants seemed overwhelmed at times and help was often hard to find. The "al a carte" restaurants were fair, Mexican and Japanese were the best, the others were not that great. Buffets were ok for breakfast and lunch, but got a bit old after a few days of the same thing. All in all we had a great time, and the resort is very nice, but given what I have heard of other resorts in the area, the poor service here will cause me to go elsewhere for my next trip.
