The Sanderling had NONE of the services normally associated with a ?resort.? The rooms were dirty, the grounds were poorly maintained, and service was non-existent. It was on the beach ? nothing else was good about it.

Wehad a problem with how the hotel is a wood structure and the kids in the room above us where jumping up and down. The staff would do nothing and we called 3 times. they kept say that they would send security up, but 3 hours later , nothing! no sorry about that at c-out ethier.

I visited the resort 10 years ago on a corporate retreat. I was in awe of its grandeur and location. I decided to take my husband to see it. I booked a room in the Main Inn on the ocean. I knew these rooms were large with great views. Upon arrival, we were told the Main Inn was full and that they had a better room for us. They placed us in the South Inn in a tiny room. I was very disappointed with our room. The ottoman had stains and the bathroom had ants and spiders. No apology from the staff about the change in accommodations.

The Sanderling is a rare jewel -all the amenities of a 5-star hotel, and thankfully not overrun by the typically trashy beachgoing clientelle one finds almost everywhere else nowadays. If you're looking for a quiet retreat on an unspoiled beach, where you are pampered and totally catered to, The Sanderling is for you. If you have children who crave amusements, if loud and wild parties are your idea of fun, or if you prefer not to act in a dignified, quiet and adult manner, you will probably be happier elsewhere. It was the perfect retreat my wife and I were seeking.
