Marriott quality... convenient to Cataloochee ski area

My 2 daughters and I spent two nights here for a ski weekend at Cataloochee (20 minutes away above Maggie Valley). This hotel was a steal compared to other alternatives closer to the slopes and proved a very restful place to stay. Breakfast is normal Fairfield Inn fare. My only complaint was the noise outside our window in rm #206... some low frequency exhaust or engine or something - not awful, but noticable. Avoid the low even number rooms (X02 to X10) and you'll be fine. We were plenty tired after skiing, so falling asleep wasn't a problem -- but, if you're a light sleeper BE SURE to ask for a higher room number AWAY from the main road. Noise from the cars driving by and the shuttle from the casino that ran all night easily penetrated the windows. It didn't bother us, but I think you could avoid it by staying in rooms in the 230-240 or 330-340 range.

Our family of four enjoyed a short trip from Asheville to Cherokee for a rare overnight vacation. The Fairfield Inn was so very hospitable! The staff were helpful and kind, and the facilities were incredibly clean, even to the corners! Breakfast was plentiful, and there was always good coffee available!

My wife and I were vacationing in Gatlinburg Tn and stopped in Cherokee NC to spend a couple of nights (casino) prior to our check-in in Gatlinburg. This Fairfield Inn was new so we decided to try it out. We had no reservation but rooms were available. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were very clean and the continental breakfast was very good. Best of all, the hotel is located right across the street from Harrah's Casino (you could walk to it). On our way home from Gatlinburg we decided to stay one more night and called the Fairfield and got a room for the same rate as before. I will stay here everytime we go to the smokies.
