The first night we stayed there was fine. The 2nd night we needed to be moved becuase our room began to smell of mold. The breakfast was edibile but the dining menu was extremely limited and not very tasty.

I found my stay at the Dana Place Inn one of complete enjoyment. I found the room VERY clean and the grounds meticulously kept. The indoor pool was also VERY clean as was the hot tub. I also found the staff friendly and helpful. I don't know what people expect when booking a "country" inn. This inn is old and quaint just as pictured on the website. Also, the food was EXCELLANT!! My complements to the chef.
I would advise anyone wanting to stay in the woods in an old country inn to choose the Dana Place! -

Please check this place out with the better business bureau before you go. It is a scam. We were charged for our whole trip, plus an 18% gratuity on the whole package before we even checked in. Our room was dirty, hot, and is very bad disrepair, as was the rest of the inn. The pool and hot tub are flithy, the grounds poorly kept. Very few of the pictures posted on the website are actually pictures of the inn.
We checked out due to the fact that our room was uninhabitable and the food disgusting. The woman at the front desk claimed she couldn't give us our money back. She gave us a number to call to talk to the manager. I had a bad feeling, but we had a hungry two year old with us.
Well, needless to say, no one has returned my phone calls. I filed a report with the better business bureau, and the company has refused to respond.
Our room was very dirty, there were cheerios on the floor and old toiletries from previous inhabitiants. The sheets were dirty, the bathroom smelled bad, and there were holes in the plaster board. None of the windows opened, and the "air conditioner" was a freestanding unit that needed a bucket emptied every few hours to keep it running. The tennis court is overgrown with weeds, the hot tub black with slime and mold, and the sandy beach by the river that they advertise does not exist. Please beware of this place. -

I had hoped that after our complaints to the Better Business Bureau and the Chamber of Commerce, the Inn would address the issues my family experienced. I see this is not the case as things have not changed. We could not even get the management to respond to our many phone calls and emails. When they decided to respond they denied everything! The Board of Health needs to show up unannounced...I made this recommendation!!! Believe me....chipped paint, stained linens, moldy odors and general uncleanliness are unacceptable and need to be addressed! Also, the online photos are way outdated and I see these are also still up and running! Trust me we travelled for several hours and left without a refund with two very small children (Inn policy...must call business office next business day for a refund...no Manager available and finally as mentioned the BUSINESS OFFICE DOES NOT RETURN CALLS FOR A REFUND) Had to go through our credit card to get a refund!!!
I pass this along because it is the absolute truth.... -

We checked in and out within ten minutes. The Inn is not accurately represented on the internet. The rooms are old with old furniture and a musty smell. My son (6) complained about the must odor. The comforter was stained, paint peeling. Tried to get a refund and was told to go thru corporate. Still have not heard back. Two young children and on a budget made our weekend miserable
