My husband and I stayed at this hotel over Carnival week. What a great place to stay. We were right in the middle of the action when it came to the parades. Luckily we had an inside room which faced a quiet pedestrian shopping area so when we were ready to crash we couldn't hear the parade. The hotel is very clean and hotel staff is very helpful. They gave us great advice on where the locals eat. You can't beat the location, it's right in the middle of San Miguel close to great restaurants and shopping. We went to dive and the hotel was a very short walk to Aqua Safari dive shop which I would also highly recommend.

This small two-star downtown hotel is nice enough, but it is not for those who go to Cozumel to sit by the pool and take in the sun (which is why we went). There is no real swimming pool, but only a 12-person above-ground spa on a second-floor terrace that gets no sun because of the building around it. There really is nothing to do at the hotel or in the area. If you just want a place to sleep and have lots to do elsewhere (diving, for example), then it would be fine. But it wasn't for us ... so after two nights at the Vista Del Mar, we flushed the remaining four nights of pre-paid lodging and moved to another hotel. At least spending our first full day on Cozumel shopping for another hotel gave us something to do!

Very clean and the hosts were charming, gracious, and very helpful. Great location if you want to stroll the Boulevard for souvenirs. The ocean view room did get a little street noise but nothing a pair of foam earplugs couldn't block out. It's worth it for the view of the sunset on the bay in the evening on the balcony. Our room had two queen beds which was great for a family of four. I consider this hotel an excellent value and my stay (4 nights) was very pleasant.

My fiance Sue and I stayed at the Vista Del Mar hotel 11-15-08 to 11-22-08. The staff and security are the best part of your experience here. We stayed here because it was located in the center of the business area which saved us alot in cab fares **The staff at the hotel told us the real fares to pay for cabs which saved us tons of money. (Cabs charge whatever they feel you can afford if you don't know better).** We stayed in an inside room that faced the sales area courtyard. It was much quieter than the ocean facing view, but be ready for people barking you down like carneys at fairtime when you leave or return to the hotel. The noise level is off the hook until 5PM everyday. Lots of great places to eat if you go back into the town a few blocks. The hotel staff was great in helping us there too. The rooms were always spotless when we returned and we felt very safe there thanks to Felipe the security guard/valet. The only downside was that toilet paper could'nt be flushed and had to put in your bathroom wastepaper basket and the rooms have very little clothes storage space (only a large armoire/closet). Finally, you can't beat the value, comfort, and location of this hotel. It's a no frills hostel but it delivers convienience and hospitality in a big way. We are divers who don't need much more than this on our trips. We would probably stay her again if we needed to save money. Thanks to the entire crew at the Hotel Vista Del Mar for a very enjoyable vacation.

I really wasn't expecting much for the price but was pleasantly surprised. The standard room was perfect -- it was almost like having to separate bedrooms...not to mention the balcony overlooking all the shopping. Probably the biggest factor for me was safety in a foreign country--they had a security desk right outside our room. Oh, and they provide a continental breakfast that they bring right to your room. I loved this hotel.
