The Gran Bahia Prinicipe is a lovely resort! I had the opportunity to stay there as a guest at a wedding. Initially, I was not sure of what to expect...but was pleasantly surprised when I arrived at the immense and beautiful lobby. Throughout my stay I found that the staff was friendly and helpful, the property and my room were immaculate and the beach front was breathtaking. This resort was well above what I expected and I would definitely visit again. My only issue was with the food at the buffet which was only was only mediocre. However, the resort made up for it in other areas including the scenery and quality of service. I have to say that this resort was a great value and I recommend it to anyone traveling to the Dominican Republic for rest and relaxation.

The hotel room was very comfortable. Also, the cleaning staff was excellent, along with the spa staff. The spa staff was very welcoming and they tried to accomodate our needs as best as possible. The buffet was okay, but after a couple of days the food and ambiance feel repetitive. We selected the Las Olas BBQ and Japanese Restaurant during our stay. It is not worth spending your time at the Las Olas BBQ. The Japanese Restaurant was a much better choice, but it did not surpass any Japanese restaurant's I have been to in the states. The only truly negative experience of our stay was during our initial check-in. The check-in staff member was unable to find our reservation and refused to allow us to speak to a manager or other staff member. The issue was not resolved until the next day and we were never offered anything to compensate for our negative experience. My #1 advice is to check with the resort prior to arrival, since the staff told me that it is not uncommon to lose a reservation booked from an outside travel agency. This will avoid you any aggrevations when you arrive.

We spent a week from September 6 -12 at the Principe. I thought the hotel grouds and staff were fantastic. Everyone was extremely freindly and willing to help. My room was clean spacious and a short walk to the beach. The food at the restaurants was excellent and the buffet food was ok (sometime a bit cold). I recommend booking the restaurants in advance so you can eat at the one you like. When we sat down to make our reservations the attendant told us that we had already been booked at two of the restaurants. My wife and I did not want to eat at neither one and they were able to accomidate us. The beach was clean although I must say that the motorized beach activities were to close to shore and we could smell two-stroke engine exhaust the whole time we were at the beach. I also thought the vendors selling excursions on the beach was a bit annoying. I recommend they not water down the beer. The only beer they served was presidente (which I like) from tap and I found it terrible. I ended up buying the bottled beer from the gift shop.

Recently, spent 7 nights there with my fiance. Overall, we were very impressed by the service, selection of buffet, cleanliness of the rooms and grounds, and lovely beach. We would without any hesitation return. The only disappointing aspect of my stay there was their tiny fitness center which was equipped with old equipment. Otherwise, 10 out of 10!

My fiance and I recently spent 7 nights at the Gran Bahia Principe Resort in Punta Cana. In a nutshell, the service was exceptional, hotel room was spotless clean, buffets were excellent, beach was fabulous, and grounds were beautifully maintained. I would return there in a heartbeat.
