We had stayed here last September when this location was a Wingate by Wyndham. We loved it then - it had great Internet, fine complimentary breakfast, and great service. We booked again for a family trip after Christmas. We did not realize until we arrived that the property had been sold to Holiday Inn effective Dec 18th. The place was just not the same. We did have the same rate, but now they no longer had free breakfast. Instead there was a charge of $7.99. Since I had booked the room with the understanding that breakfast would be free, I expected to get what I contracted for when I made the reservation..I had to argue with both the night staff and the day clerk, who had to consult with the manager. They finally agreed. I noted that the breakfast room was empty -I guess no one else thought that $7.99 was a good deal. The breakfast was no where near as good as it had been with Wingate.

Great hotel with friendly and helpful staff. The whole place has been refurbished and they were finishing off the foyer decorations while we were there. This did not impact our stay, and our room was fresh and very nice. Comfortable bed and good continental breakfast. The light rail construction was going on outside, but this wasn?t a problem. We drove a few blocks further down, in parallel with Central Avenue then turned into McDowall and from there into Central. Our room was quiet. Normally there would be more eating places accessible at night but some businesses close early because of the construction. We walked to the Old Spaghetti Factory (15 minutes), and the food and atmosphere were very good. Would definitely stay here again ? but as we were leaving we were told that Marriott has bought the hotel, so the emphasis on business guests may change.
