We've stayed at several different hotels/motels in Big Bear - Northwoods was the best! Staff was friendly and helpful, room was much bigger than expected and very comfortable. Lots to offer - exercise room, computer area, relaxing sitting area in lobby, pool, Stillwell's Restaurant, conference rooms, close to everything we needed - all around great experience. Also, my husband was in a wheelchair this year, and they have a special elevator to accomodate getting from the lobby to the lower level to the regular elevators. Felt very secure with key entry to the building after 11 p.m.

We recently stayed at this property, it is my favorite in the area, great value for the price. Rooms and grounds are very clean, the room has a mini fridge and a microwave. The pool and jacuzzi are very well situated and have a great view of the front of the resort. The staff is very friendly and helpful ! Walking distance from the Village, Movie Theaters, and Restaurants. Brunc at the restaurant is very tasty. The Bar at the hotel has the BEST bartender in town ! We have and will return to this resort again !

We have a wonderful stay at this hotel in Big Bear. Staff was very friendly. Rooms were cleaned and exterior was gorgeous. We normally stay at a cabin, but wanted to treat ourselves by staying here. Rates, Food, Location to Village shops were all excellent. Really enjoyed the food in the restaurant, fireworks over the lake was excellent!

Just returned from a 2 night stay at the Northwoods Resort while skiing at Snow Summit. Great stay at lodge style resort. The location is terrific for walking to the Village for shopping and meals. The kids loved the outdoor pool and spa which was surrounded by snow. The rooms were exceptionally clean. Snow Summit was an easy 5 minute drive. Room was quiet and bed was comfortable. We felt like the price was good given it is the height of ski season and we had fresh snow both nights. At check-in, I asked for a referral to rent ski equipment and received a discount card to an extremely reasonable rental location on the way to the mountain. There is a switch in the room for additional heat; however, we found the temperature very comfortable with the switch ""off"". We will definitely return to the Northwoods.

I stayed with my wife and three year old daughter in this hotel over New Year?s eve and New Year?s day evening. For the most part, everything about our stay was satisfactory or better. The Northwoods is a nice hotel in a great location. However, the climate control in the room had only two settings, on or off. There was no automatic setting. If left on, it got WAY too hot, even on the coolest setting. If left off, it got too cold. We tried leaving the heat on and opened a window, but smoke for the surrounding chimneys poured into our room. We had no choice but to keep the window closed. All night long, my wife and I alternated turning the heat on and off every hour or so. In the morning, we complained to the front desk. They made a service request to maintenance and offered a $20 discount for the previous night. Later that morning, we had a message indicating that there was nothing maintenance could do, and that was just the way it was. After the second night, we decided to cut our trip short, because the climate control problem was making us all to get sore throats and coughs. You might expect this from a cheap hotel, but this room was almost $ per night. The hotel discounted the room $20 for each of the two nights of our stay, and they lost the room charge for the third night that we would have stayed. It is very unfortunate because everything else about the hotel was satisfactory or better :-(
