  This hotel was great! I was in town for a wedding, and my room wasn't ready (I got in well before check-in), but I had to get ready for it, and the staff was extremely accommodating, letting me use a room being cleaned to get ready. The hotel has a great personality and feel. It is a great place for nostalgic getaways with throw backs to simpler times. The location was gorgeous and has nice views of the scenery. The room was a little small, but it is an old hotel, and it adds to the charm of the place. The beds are amazingly soft and comfortable. The staff was very generous and friendly. I will echo with the other review that breakfasts cost more than 8 a plate, but my goodness was it delicious! I have not had a breakfast so good in a long time. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel, especially for a romantic, quiet getaway.

  Here for a wedding, we found the location, historicity, and bed quite good. Breakfast at the hotel was excellent. Room was small and dimly lit. The wardrobe was used to store fans and floor heaters. The private bath was a shambles: cold water, no soap, no shampoo, no fan, no hair dryer, cramped, no facial tissues?like camping out. The breakfast voucher was a joke since no breakfast could be ordered in the restaurant for the 8.00 price!!! It cost us more than twice as much for simple dishes. Breakfast porch very chilly. Service checking in was slow, recent water damage not repaired (our window drape was soaked and lifted up, so we had no privacy). Staff was flexible on check out, waitress was exceptionally good, good armory collection displayed (but incongruous with history or theme of the hotel).
