Let me start by saying that this hotel, regardless of having directions from the hotel and from mapquest, took my husband and I about an hour to find once in the area. Then, we were very disappointed to learn that while this hotel boasts of being a "few minutes" from Florence, is in fact about a 30 minute drive. There is a shuttle from the hotel to/from Florence but this only runs once early in the morning and early in the evening. So, if you want to spend time in Florence and enjoy dinner there and not at the hotel, you will either have to drive in and pay about $30 to park or take an expensive taxi back to the hotel. These things were details that were disappointing, but not what made our experience a "bad one." During the second night of our stay - this was in late July (100+ degrees in Florence), the air conditioning broke in our room. We woke up drenched, and called the front desk to learn that no one could do anything about the situation until later the next day. As our room was a loft, we had to move downstairs to try to become more comfortable in the excruciating heat. We continued to sweat, were unable to sleep at all, and had to open the windows - this was another issue - there were no screens, and not to mention that the area surrounding the hotel doesn't look like a great one from a security standpoint, we were mauled by mosquitos for the remainder of the evening. The night was absolutely miserable, felt more like camping than anything else and there was NO adjustment in our rate at the hotel....

This hotel was beautiful and very relaxing! it's 15 mins or so outside of town, so the shuttle servce is all you have to wrestle with. Cabs are like 25 euro a ride, and the shuttle only runs like 6 times a day, so plan your day accordingly! The hotel had georgous rooms and grounds and a very helpful and friendly staff! our favorite hotel of our trip!!
