I've stayed here many times. Frankly, this is a 5-star hotel in most ways. I'm not sure what they're missing to qualify as 5-star, but I think they must miss only 1 or 2 criterion that are not that important to the Boulder market. Definately a 5-star hotel pool/jacuzzi area; maybe it's not 5-star rated because you have to go to the common pool area for the jacuzzi instead of it being private, but the sperate men/women steam and dry sauna and locker room is just like an $*/night Four Seasons. The lounge area is plush and has a fireplace and piano with cocktail service from the bar, and Jill's restaurant if you want to eat by the fireplace. It's taken the hotel restaurant (Jill's) several years (since 2005) to iron out their opening problems and become accepted locally in Boulder but I think they have finally been accepted in 2008. Remember Boulder is a tuff competive restaurant market known for it's upscale trendy (non-chain) restaurants, and hotels are not easy to fit in. I've read the 1 or 2 negative reviews on this hotel and I honestly do not think these patrons knew where they were at and perhaps demanded more than the hotel could give to remain profitable. Perhaps they would have been happier at the Hyatt Regency in Denver that's usually $* less. I did have a problem once here with the spa, but the problem was taken care of in a reasonable way as to satisfy me. Also, you can rent bikes or walk to many cool places nearby. Overall, this hotel has 5-star energy and feel from someone that travels worldwide.

It is a shame that such a beautiful hotel is so poorly run. The service I received was abysmal at best. Upon returning home I felt compelled to write a two page letter of complaint to the general manager. He never responded. Absolutely, positively, not worth the money that they are demanding. Stay elsewhere and spend the additional cash on a fabulous meal at The Kitchen.

I stayed at the St.Julien just this past week and enjoyed every part of my stay but was surprised by the Restaurant. Most hotel restaurants I shy away from due to lack of creativity and service but I will gladly go back to Jill's for there friendly waitstaff and DELICIOUS dinners. Thank you!!

Nice balcony, but buried in snow on our visit.Service: Good.View: Ours was excellent?over rooftops of the Foothills.Beds: Ours was short of comfortable, but better than most.Spa: Crowded on my weekend visit, but many luxurious details.Restaurant: Very good?a credible alternative to local restaurants.
