  We were looking for a place to stay near Paso Robles so we could spend time in the wine counrty. The Carlton was in a perfect location to reach all the different wineries especially those located south of Paso Robles. The Hotel was very clean with extremely comfortable beds and amenities. We loved the history of the building and the fact that it has been completely refurbished but the character of the hotel remained. We would definitely recommend it to friends and family.

  I, too, found the Carlton accidently. What a great surprise! This is not your typical roadside hotel. 400 thread count bedding. The bathrooms are carbon-copies of Four Seasons bathrooms, with one exception: The Carlton's bathrooms have deep jacuzzi tubs. It's too bad this great hotel isn't in a better location.

  I've stayed at the Carlton many times after finding it by accident. A beautifully redesigned historical building, the rooms are lovely, with high thread count sheets, large baths and so comfortable, even the smaller rooms. Loved the wireless internet everywhere. The dining room is beautiful and the bar lively, but the food is hit and miss. Still, a nice meal can be had.

  My fiance and I stayed at the Carlton on a fluke. I'm an event planner and have traveled to some of the best places in the world. Although Atascadero isn't a destination location, this hotel rivals Ritz-Carltons across the US!
