We loved it. The staff was so friendly, kind, accommodating and welcoming. They bent over backwards to make us feel at home. We eloped and got married here and it was a truly memorable and wonderful occasion. The staff was there to answer all questions, assist as needed and make this day a very special one or both of us. We highly recommend the Hartness House for your wedding or for just a fun, romantic get-away weekend.

Some of the other reviews refer to 'threadbare rugs' and such but what is unique about this place is exactly that...this is a 100 year old mansion...with all of it's quirks and wierdness...but it has an incredible sense of history and uniqueness that you won't find anywhere else. It's the real deal...I mean who decorates like that in this day and age? But in looking at the historical photographs displayed on the walls in the library and other rooms, this is indeed what the place looked like in the early 1900's. If plush new carpets rock your boat, go somewhere else. If uniqueness, ambiance, early 20th century charm, great personal service, and excellent food interest you, give the Hartness House a visit and stay in the the main house itself. I just spent 3 nights here for a civil union ceremony and plan on coming back this fall. The Inn makes a great spot to serve as a base for making day trips throughout Vermont and New Hampshire or a great spot to just sit and think about how the world used to be.
