It was a nightmare. The hotel needs major work. The room didn't smell, but had construction issues. I was in town for a dog show. The next morning my dog made noise (not even a bark) and I was called to quiet him down. I explained that he hadn't even barked and I was getting dressed to take him out. I finally had to hang up because they kept going on about the barking. I put him in my van during breakfast to avoid any noise of being left behind. I later groomed him outside the room to be nice for the maid and left for the day. When I returned that afternoon my key wouldn't work, so I went to the front desk. I experienced the horrible behavior from the front desk as Joseph described, being told that I "checked out". Apparently when I was out of the room, they tried to call back, for an unknown complaint (he wouldn't tell me) and they "checked me out". At first he refused to refund the second night I'd paid for because I hadn't been out by 11, and I told him I wasn't there at 11. It took a few more minutes to get him to agree for a refund with the stipulation that I had 10 minutes to be out and back to the desk. His wife made rude comments to me while opening the door. That evening I discovered that another Dog show attendee had been kicked out because her Australian Shepherd was "too big" ... no other reason. I went to the EconoLodge and regretted not going there first. (cleaner and nicer rooms, better breakfast) This hotel is NOT pet friendly and the manager is totally rude!!!!

The room was really clean it looked like they had just put new carpet in. I think the other review may have been before they did some work at the hotel. I will stay again next time I am in Salina.

The worst hole-in-the-wall hotel I've ever seen.

The rooms were unkempt, and smelled. The bed was horrible. The building and grounds were dirty, falling apart, had construction materials just strewn around the pathways. The man at the front desk was unbelievably rude, mean, and ignorant. He made very derogatory and discriminatory comments to me and tried to ask me personal questions. When I told him I wanted to leave he said I couldn't, which further enhanced the horror-movie environment of this place. I finally called the Days Inn of Salina and threw my keys down to the man at the desk and left. I highly recommend the Days Inn.
