When you're on a budget--sometimes you say, "as long as the sheets are clean." Well, I'm not even sure the sheets were clean. This was the most disgusting place I have every stayed. We got there a bit early and took a chance that the room might be ready. They said the room hadn't been cleaned and to please come back later. No problem. We check in later and the room is filthy! Why did they bother saying it needed to be cleaned? The room had not even been vacuumed. The carpet was full of Bobby pins (which looked like needles at first) and other dirt. The shower and entire sink were covered with hair and DUST--dust like it hadn't been wiped down in weeks. How could a cleaning person miss the entire bathroom?? The clerk was very apologetic and said we were the 5th complaint of the night. He offered to switch us but that room didn't look any better and it was late so we stayed. I'm not even sure the sheets were clean. At 3 a.m. a female version of the Bloods v. Crips were screaming and swinging puches outside the front of the motel. No one is on duty at night so this went on for a while.... A clean room, regardless of rate, is a basic expectation for travellers. Otherwise, we might as well pitch a tent. The ground was cleaner than this place.

My wife and I spent the weekend in this hotel, and it had to be one of the dirtiest rooms I've ever had to stay in. We would have checked out, but knew the next available room was 25 plus miles away due to a busy weekend in the area. There was crushed chips on the floor, gum in the carpet, even a wad of gum on the headboard! Every cabinet and door handle was sticky, and covered with various food and who knows what. The "Fully Equiped Utensil" drawer consisted of 1 rusty spoon, and 2 can openers, one of which was in pieces. I made the mistake of opening the nightstand drawer and found the entire drawer filled with crumbs, can top rings, and who knows what else. The bathroom had mold in various places, and I won't get into what the toilet looked like, but it hadn't been cleaned at all... It wasn't just our room, the elevator had some litter, (Bar straws, and a plastic lid from a container, etc) when we checked in. It was still there when we left 2 days later, along with 10 plus pieces of gum mushed in the carpet. I did send an online complaint that night to the company web site. Two weeks later the manager of the property called and offered a refund of 1 night, and explained that "There's been a lot of turnover with the housekeeping staff..." and gave her apolgies. I understand problems with help can be a headache, but I believe it is the managers responsibility to keep on top of the staff and property conditions. This was not a sudden downfall, and they will really have to go a long way to bring the property back into acceptable condition.
