My children and I just returned from a week long stay at Chincoteague Inn. Due to the fact that I have children, I tried to accomodate the hotel as much as possible. We arrived on Friday and immediately upon opening the door to the room, a strong, musty odor met us. I called the front desk and asked permission to purchase candles and carpet deodorizer to take the smell away. I made the beds, took the trash out, and kept the room clean and orderly, requiring only towel changes from the housekeeping staff, up until Monday. On Monday morning, we left with the beds unmade, trash in the basket, and the room was in serious need of being vaccumed due to sand accumulation. Upon my return Monday night, I found the beds to have the same sheets and the blanket and sheets had just been tossed over the bed. Trash was still in the basket and no vaccum had been anywhere near our room. We had new towels and that was the extent of the care our room received. The short of the long is that in the seven days my children and I were at Chincoteague Inn, our room was not vaccumed, the tub and toilet were not cleaned, and the bed linens were not changed. Even with this, our stay at the hotel was not unsatisfactory and I feel that the staff just needs minimal managerial tweaking. All of the employees were extremely friendly and made us feel very welcome. The rate was excellent and the room was clean, although musty, when we arrived. With additional room attention, this would be the place to stay in Chincoteague.

The room is overpriced for the quality. I booked a "superior" room hoping to avoid the experiences of previous guests. The room was relatively clean, but smelled like stale bleach. The only 2 amenities listed were a refrigerator and wifi. I was unable to access the wif. When I asked about this @ the front desk it was explained that the farther away the room is from the 1st floor, the more trouble people had getting access. I was on the second floor of a 3 floor motel. I then asked what defined a superior room. The girl said that she was told it "meant newer carpets and fresher paint". She then showed me a tablet with a list of complaints for her manager from just that day. Did I want to add to the list? There were live and dead flies along the window. Bugs are a part of life on an island, but at least clean up the dead ones. The bedding was clean but the comforter was ripped. The air conditioner, toilet and refrigerator were all in working order. The shower liner was clean. The pool was small but nice. There was not enough parking on site, but I drive a small vehicle and could squeeze into a makeshift spot. The drip buckets were still outside of each room to catch water from the ac units.
