This quaint hotel is furnished with antiques and looks wonderful. The owner was very nice checking us in. However, he leaves the premises at 5 and you are on your own after that. There are no phones in the rooms. All the rooms are up some very steep stairs. Why does 'antique' always seem to translate as 'looks good but uncomfortable to actually use'? There was not one comfortable chair in the place. The room came with 2 double beds. the bed i tried to sleep in the first night was the most uncomfortable bed I've ever tried to sleep on. I have slept on ground that was softer than this bed. The other bed was marginally more comfortable. The Adirondack chairs on the balcony were the most comfortable items in the place and I spent a good bit of time there watching for bears (and people watching). My husband wanted to stay some place 'different' and this place certainly qualifies. I will not be staying there again.

We really liked staying at the hotel- sitting above the town shopping center allows access to all sorts of neat gifts/sights. The old west style added so much to the experience as a whole. Good service! (We did have to go to Wal-Mart in Alamagordo to purchase pillows as theirs are very thin, but it was worth it!). Enjoyed the stay!
