I was a little worried after reading the mixed reviews, but it was the only hotel within a 40 mile radius that had a room available so we crossed our fingers and booked a room. This hotel was perfectly acceptable for our very short stay for a college campus tour in Pullman. When we checked in, the young woman at the front desk was friendly and knowledgeable and was able to pleasantly answer our questions. The room itself was small and fairly sparse, but very clean, non-smoking, and had TV, microwave, fridge, coffee pot and coffee, hairdryer and free wi-fi. The bathroom had been updated and was spotless - no mold or rogue hairs! It's an older building with the doors to your room opening to the outside, but there were appropriate working locks on the door and large windows. We have travelled and stayed in luxury hotels as well as hostels in many parts of the country and the world and this is just as rated... nothing fancy, no extras: A place to sleep that's affordable, safe and clean. The beds were acceptable - doubles, so not a lot of room, but a decent night's sleep unless you're expecting a luxury mattress. To our surprise, the property even has a heated outdoor pool. It was not open this time of year but is situated in the middle courtyard of the hotel property. The lobby does have a small "breakfast-to-go" of fresh fruit, fresh muffins, packaged pastries, coffee and tea.

Front desk folks are rude. Had to "request" a hair dryer, cheap towels, no mattress pad on the beds and the mattress's were horrible. Charged for extra keys. Had to prepay for the room so I was stuck staying an extra day when I really wanted to leave. The only saving grace was the AC worked. For $ bucks a night I didnt' expect a 4 star but I did expect the basics to be on a much higher standard.

This hotel was in a good location near the university and downtown. The room was extremely small, but clean. The beds were pretty comfortable, but just doubles. The staff was friendly. The shower was low flow and not very enjoyable. The breakfast was pastries wrapped in plastic and coffee/tea/juice. Don't count on the breakfast for anything nutritious or filling.

This is my third year staying at the Palouse Inn for our summer conference. The property has shown a number of improvements over the years and the staff has always been helpful. If you are okay with staying at a place that is not a big name franchised hotel, then this hotel has good value. They also have free high speed internet which is great if you have to catch up on work or check email. The only downer I had was the guest laundry room was closed because they were having new equipment installed.

For a bargain hotel, this one is quite nice. Very quiet, clean, and conveniently located. Rooms are plain but functional. Free wireless broadband. Beds are too hard for my taste, and pillows are woefully thin. Bring a pillow!
