  I stayed at the Comfort Inn in Porto Alegre on Sept. 10-14, 2008. This is a great place. It appears to be brand new. It's on a busy street, so if you are a light sleeper then request a room away from the road like I did (it was very quite). The room was about R120/day and parking about R10/day. It is in the Centro area of the city. Everything was real clean, and the hotel workers were very nice, particularly X, who could speak excellent English. The breakfast was great, parking attendants were always quick to retrieve the car, and of the 6 or 7 hotels I stayed at during this trip to Brazil, this one had the best internet connection for my laptop. The only negative thing I encountered was the air conditioners in the room. I can't see why such a classy hotel would put in cheap and relatively noisy window units. Luckily it cooled off after our first day and we didn't need it. If I go back to Porto Alegre, I will defintely stay here again.
