I READ THIS IN A BROCHURE I FOUND AT THE INN, AND I THOUGHT WHAT A GREAT WORD TO DESCRIBE THIS WONDERFUL OLD INN. WE JUST RETURNED FROM OUR FIRST STAY, AND IT DEFINITELY WON'T BE OUR LAST. WE FOUND THEM BY SEARCHING ON THE WEB FOR A PLACE TO STAY NEAR MY DAUGHTERS COLLEGE (WCU) WHEN WE DELIVERED HER LAST WEEK. WE ARE SO GLAD WE CHOSE TO STAY HERE INSTEAD OF A TYPICAL HOTEL. IT MADE FOR A GREAT CHOICE THAT WILL ALWAYS BE A PART OF OUR MEMORY OF THIS SPECIAL TIME. WE PLAN TO STAY AGAIN IN OCTOBER WHEN WE COME TO VISIT HER, AND ANYTIME WE COME TO SEE HER WE KNOW WE HAVE FOUND THE PERFECT PLACE TO SPEND THE WEEKEND. GREAT ATMOSPHERE, GREAT FOOD, AND CHARMING ROOMS. I WAS JUST IN AWE OF THE FACT THAT THERE IS 100 YEARS OF HISTORY AND SO MUCH OF WHAT IS THERE NOW WAS USED THAT MANY YEARS AGO. IT MUST HAVE BEEN QUITE A SPECIAL PLACE BACK THEN AS I BELIEVE IT IS STILL TODAY. THE FOOD WAS OUTSTANDING AS WAS THE SERVICE AT THE DESK AN IN THE RESTAURANT. THERE ARE NOT TVS OR TELEPHONES, BUT THEY DO HAVE WIRELESS SERVICE. IT IS A TRULY A MAGICAL PLACE AND SPECIAL EXPERIENCE!

I stayed at the inn for just over two weeks in July. I was there for work, yet had some time to enjoy the laid back atmosphere. The easy going attitude of the other guests and the staff there was a wonderful change of pace. The staff treated even a cameraman like me like pure royalty. The restaurant had excellent food. The menu could maybe use a few more options. But overall, it was a wonderful place to eat and enjoy a glass of wine. I would certainly consider this as a perfect place for a weekend getaway or even a month long vacation. Thanks for the perfect hospitality Balsam Mountain Inn!

The service is great! It is so refreshing to find such a friendly, accommodating staff. I can't tell you how many places I have been so disappointed in the guest service at other hotels. From the time we walk in the door at the Balsam Mountain Inn, we are greeted with a smile and a willing to please attitude. I think they must make every effort to hire pleasant staff members. I just can't say enough about the good service, both at the front desk and the restaurant, including the innkeepers. That is just one part of what makes this a favorite of ours. It is an escape for us every fall when the air is crisp, the skies a deep blue, and the leaves vibrant hues. You walk in to this inn and step back in time. The atmosphere just adds to that autumn feeling for me with the creaky hardwood floors and the antique fixtures. It is like going to Grandma's as a child so very many years ago. We have stayed in many of the rooms, and it is hard to pick a favorite. I like the claw foot tubs, but my old body is not cooperating as it used to, so we have chosen room 200 now for the views and the shower. You will enjoy the breakfast that comes with your room. You can smell it all over the inn when you wake up in the morning, just as if Mom is in the kitchen at home. Be sure to have another meal in the restaurant during your stay, as the food is wonderful! Staying at this inn is an experience, not just a place to sleep. It is sure to add to any memories to your getaway. See you in October!

I enjoyed my relaxing stay at The Balsam Mountain Inn. It is secluded but close to many towns and Asheville. I enjoy shopping and was busy every day. I also enjoyed the Gem Mines that are very close. The food at the Inn was award winning.

We are repeat visitors to Balsam Mountain Inn. We love it because of the quaint and Peaceful nature of the Inn. There are no phones or TV in the rooms, which we appreciate. As a family we spent time reading, playing games and hiking. We call it ""our visit to Walton's Mountain"". We love the old wooden screens doors, the big porches with the rockers and the peace of the mountain. Dinner has always been a treat.Everyone is very welcoming and the rooms clean and old-fashioned.of
