We stayed with my 14-year old son only two nights out of the planned 6. The cabanas are clean and the staff friendly. RCR is the very last resort on the way out of San Pedro town and quiet but far from everything. The resort itself is pretty barren: instead of the lush vegetation at most other resorts in SP, there are 3 palm trees slowly falling into the sea at the beach - the rest is more like saplings. The huge concrete swimming pool sits in the middle of nowhere with no shades, vegetation or, in fact, anything close by. The worst is the complete lack of access to the sea. Why would you want to fly thousand of miles for a large concrete hole in the ground filled with fresh water? At the beach there's sea grass and the water is ankle-deep. At the end of the pier somebody cleaned the sea grass in an area of a midsized room: now that is where you can "dip" in the sea - up to your chest. The Sandbar restaurant - your only choice for dinner, unless you rent a golf cart for 70 US/day - is quite good. All in all: this place is for people who only want to read a book all day at the beach, then have an early dinner and retire by 9.30 pm. While downtown SP is fun, filled with resorts that do have sea access and excellent restaurants like the Wild Mango or the Blue Water Grill. We moved to Ramon's Village for a nominally higher price and got what we came for in the first place.

The hotel is a distance from town, which means you should get a cab from the airstrip or plan on renting a bike or golf cart. We rented bikes from the hotel, which was a really wonderful and easy way to get around. I highly recommend it. The rooms are simple. They do look a bit like army housing or a girl scout camp on the outside, but everything is nice and open, clean, and easy to settle into inside. Having each room as a separate building keeps things quieter too - we couldn't hear what our neighbors were up to the way you can in some hotels. The front desk will push you towards the ""big"" snorkel and tour companies, but I recommend booking those types of day trips through a smaller tour company . You'll have a much more personal experience, led by someone who really knows the area, and it won't feel quite so corporate. The bar/restaurant is nice, but more expensive than most on the island.

Royal Carib is a great place to stay all the way around. Lovely staff that will help with absolutely anything. Booked all of our tours, scheduled flights, rented us bikes, called cabs and even recommended places to go locally. Pool is beautiful, bar is cute, good prices, 5 min bike ride to town or 2 min water taxi, internet onsite.

The location to us was the best. Not far from anything. Everything is easy to get to, either by golf cart or even better walk down the beach. That way you see the beautiful ocean that words can not discribe. You absolutely have to go and stay here. It is not a super fancy hotel, but it is perfect for relaxing and ejoying a really great vacation. The staff are so nice and honest. We left a wallet there and it was Fed-Exed to us the next day. We are planning on going back in Apr 09. We got to see other hotels but for us this is the best, because there are not other large hotels next to, the closest is Victoria House, but that is really quit too. Go and stay and ask for one of the rooms that overlook the Carribean Ocean.

This hotel has everything you will need. It's basic so don't expect a pampering or luxurious experience, however it's a great value for the money. The little houses have living rooms, kitchens, bedrooms, a bathroom with a large shower (no tub) and A/C which you will want to use. Overall it was clean and comfortable, and like having our own little house in Belize for a week. The staff is friendly and helpful, they carried my bags for me from our golf cart to our room and suggested activities for us. The location is prime, right on the beach and close enough to town. The rooms all have a beautiful view from their front doors. The pool is nice! It's clean and large, but a little cold. The ocean water is actually warmer. One thing to be aware of, the receptionist desk closes at 7pm. We did not arrive on the island until 6:30 and got to the hotel around 6:45. If we had been 15 mins later, no one would have been there to check us in to our room. If you plan to arrive later than 7, I would advise contacting the hotel direclty and asking them to wait for you or meet you upon your arrival. I would definitely stay at this resort again, we enjoyed it very much!
