  Both my wife and I were pleasantly surprised with the facilities and the room itself. We figured because it was near the casino and dog track that it would be "rough". We enjoyed our stay with our two children and will stay again when we visit family in Dubuque. The track was closed for the season and we didn't visit the casino, but if you're into either, I'd recommend the hotel. The brunch in the morning was better than we expected and reasonable by hotel standards.

  The hotel staff was very friendly and the hotel very clean. The room were spacious and beds were comfortable. The only problem with this hotel is you can hear everything, we could hear the person in the next room snoring and also the other rooms televison. We were on second floor and you could hear the people upstairs walking around the room. This was the first hotel I stayed at that you could hear that much noise. Room service was good but it took about 45 minutes for them to deliver. Not sure if I would stay here again because of the noise factor.

  Picked this hotel on price and features, but apparently most people who stay here go to casino and dogtrack. If a couple, as we were, pick Life Great Getaway package for 2 comp breakfasts (otherwise $8 each). Breakfast a combo buffet and order up (biscuits/gravy with toasted buns excellent, but omelets made with EggBeaters). Lovely bike/walking path around island on which hotel is located. Go with king-size bed to get firmness controls.
