I just spent 3 nights in the Ramayana with my 2 teenaged children and we loved the place, but found that while the hotel itself was lovely, it was over-priced for the area. We could have stayed in a slightly lesser hotel in an even better part of Kuta for about a quarter of the price. Having said that, upon arrival we were upgraded to a Family Room there are 2 on the property which was really special. The standard superior room we paid for at $*/nite& didn't include a balcony, was smallish, stuffy, and would've been very cramped with the 3rd bed, which we'd requested for the 3 of us. In the family room on the 8th floor, we got free bottled water every day, had at least 900 sq ft of space with the two twin beds for the kids nicely separated from my king bed, and a huge and gorgeous bathroom, complete with separate bath/shower & toilet-side phone. The double-balcony got sun in the PM for a few hours but it was on the outside of the hotel and overlooked a busy street, markets, and bright lights. The services at the hotel were set up to take care of older folks and except for a 5-minute dip one afternoon, we didn't even use the pool. Same with the pool table in the bar/grill. Concierge was excellent booking surfing lessons for the kids and a seaside day in Benoa (parasailing, glass-bottom, bamana boat, banana boat, etc) but we would've paid less had we booked directly. Buffet breakfast in the morning was included, lavish, and varied enough to be interesting for 3 days. While e wouldn't stay there again we'd recomend it to couples looking for a romantic spot with all the amenities, and older travelers who appreciate attention.
