Hotel availability over New Years was either very expensive and/or required lengthy stays, so was VERY lucky to find Punt Hill North which was reasonably priced with no length of stay requirements. Though not in CBD, it was accessible using the train with a station within reasonable walking distance. There is a shortcut between hotel and train station, but it?s no walk to attempt with luggage!!! Room was very clean, well maintained and breakfast buffet is very nice amenity, if included with room rate. Management was new and not familiar with area/activities at all. But we are pretty adventurous, so found the route to Darling Harbour and the City Sightseeing Sydney & Bondi Tours Red Bus (which is a narrated tour of all the sites, during which you can jump on and off wherever you wish along the way)! Punt Hill was a pleasant start to our 3 week tour of Australia.
