I've stayed at the Alpen Inn many times over the last 10 years and it has always been a great place to relax and get away for a few days. The fact that it is at 5500 ft elevation makes it very comfortable during this opressively hot summer of 2007. It has recently changed ownership and although it was good before, it is even better now. The updates to the whole place are evident but especially the dining experience and landscaping. The place is so Euro in look and feel and the staff are so helpful. Needless to say I'll return again.

This lodge is the traditional ski lodge, it was extremely convienent to the skiing in Beech Mt. It is not decorated in the modern style, but it is quite authentic in the ski lodge feel. The rooms were clean, the staff was very helpful and polite, and the views were spectacular. This place was very reasonable to stay at and well worth it.

my wife and i are both teachers. after a long and stressful week, we decided on friday at 2pm to take a trip to the mountains. we looked online, and by chance happened upon the beech alpen inn. we absolutely loved it. the service, the breakfast, the ambience, the seclusion. it was no ritz carlton, but it was just right for stress relief. be sure to go to stonewalls in banner elk for prime rib!

This hotel was the only available without negative reviews when I booked. It was very reasonably priced so I decided book. All I needed was a place to sleep and shower & was fine as long as I had a decent, clean place to sleep. Fortunately I got exactly what I needed. This place is an older construction with an older swiss-style ""Sound of Music"" type feel to it. If you want a great priced hotel and you don't mind staying in older motel style accomodations, this is the place. If you need all the modern conveniences and decor, you might want to look elsewhere.

Ia m kkeping it short and sweet. This place felt like Bates Motel from Psycho. The rooms were dirty. The hallway had a loud echo. The was no A/C (only a box fan). The place creeped my wife and I out.
